  • Oh I didn’t even realize it’s friday the 13th. I guess that makes sense as to why my friends respond to my text that or the fact that it’s 6 am.

  • So excited for it :D

Alright. To get into the Friday mood, I saw the original Friday the 13th movie for the first time today (or, well, yesterday at the time of posting this) because I am not caught up on the classics, plus I'm terrified of horror movies... and it's pretty good. The camera work is great, as it really gives off a sense of someone stalking the group, but you never really know who. The movie did another interesting thing where it wasn't really "horror/thriller" concerning the characters, because none of them really found any of the others' dead bodies until the end. You see 4 get killed, but the others still haven't the faintest idea of what's going on.
Somehow I didn't spoil myself on this iconic movie yet, because I was surprised that the killer was Pamela Voorhees, Jason's mother! Considering that "Jason with a goalie mask" was the mascot of the whole series, I was really not expecting this twist (though I guess it isn't a "twist" because that character had not yet been made yet)...but also kinda sad I didn't see the legend himself.
That ending was a shocker! The music swells, all happy and triumphant, but then Boom Zombie Jason attack or something?! That I did not expect, and was probably the scariest scare of the film.
Overall, it was pretty well made, and did have me on the edge of my seat sometimes. The music was great (the iconic "chh, chh, chh, ahh, ahh, ahh" sound was cool to hear) and the special effects were really good. Maybe a little too good. I did cringe at quite a few of the deaths, they were gooory.

Y'know, it's weird that I did this. I'm not into horror movies, and usually pay no attention to any 13th Friday of a month. Maybe I just want to get into the Halloween spirit.
