Batman Telltale's rendition of Gotham City

I was reading this marvel of an article :
http://lifewithoutbuildings.net/2009/06/on-influence-batman-gotham-city-and-an-overzealous-architecture-historian-with-a-working-knowledge-of-explosives.html

While checking out concept arts of Batman Telltale particularly pertaining Gotham City : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/AgEgN

And it dawned on me that we have not seen enough of Gotham City in Telltale's Batman, I understand there is only so much that the story commands to show, but as someone who always was fascinated by the relationship between Batman and the city he swears to protect I expected a bit more there. Like, anyone can see Batman could not have been created anywhere else, Gotham City birthed Batman in a way that no other city did to a superhero. I suppose that is one of the many reasons why I never could muster much fascination for Superman, he and his city strike me as bland in comparison.
I strongly advise reading the article I quoted at the beginning of this post as it very eloquently highlights Gotham's uniqueness and fleshes out how Batman is a perfect reflection of it.

This retrospective by IGN is also worth checking out.

I agree. Gotham City, despite being the main location of the game, feels "underused". Remember those monorails from the first season? They looked cool and felt unique to Telltale's interpretation of Gotham, but we haven't seen those at all in Season 2 so far. Here's a hoping the developers get to flesh out Gotham at least a bit more in the future.

  • I'd love to see more of Gotham. I don't know that I feel its underused, but mostly because I'm not sure how they would go about adding more than they have? It's not a sandbox or open world type game so I can't really think of ways that they could show off their Gotham.
Unless they added the 'where would you like to go' choice like in Wolf Among Us. The problem with that is it might take from the 'go as Bruce or Batman.' ...But then I guess it wouldn't considering in season 2 they've already made an attempt at it with the whole Mori or Eli thing. Both are in different places and have a requirement of who it is that shows up.

If another game company makes another batman game , I would love it if they made Gotham City feel like your like in a actual city( like the gta, gta clones, and the Spider-Man games does) instead of a sandbox-ish location(like arkham knight)
