    City = Origins > Asylum > Knight

City was a better overall game, but Origins had the snow and best boss fights.

Why I hated Knight? The batmobile is the easy answer. To add to that is the rehashed story they tried to shovel. Why? Just why? People whom didn't know the comic story, it didn't matter to. People whom did, it took us an extra 5 min to figure it out and then it just was annoying that they changed it. What I did like? Scarecrow as the villain(even though he was useless) and how Ivy was handled. That was really good, but it didn't save the game for me.

  • I haven't tried the Asylum,

But I know many people liked City. I tried it once but i got bored during the Bane mission.

My favorite so far is Origins. Which makes me feel weird because Majority of gamers like City more than it. Maybe because I didn't continue on to finish City.

What I liked in Origins were the different Boss fights, they weren't repetitive and not boring, especially the Bane boss fight and Deathstroke fight and the Electrecutioner which was funny.

And then there's the many upgrades to the Batsuit & the Frozen DLC. That and the satisfying challenge modes where you get to choose Batman or Deathstroke or Bruce in different forms. I Liked 100 to 1 the most. By the way, does Arkham Knight have the same kind of challenge as 100 to 1? I really hope so. For me playing the challenge doesn't get old. I still play it until now & everytime I have no game to play. I guess it's what keeping the Origins game in my PC.

I'm only 7% on Arkham Knight so I don't know how it will compare to origins.

  • I feel like the only who thinks Arkham series isn't one of the best games ever made but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them.

The one that I enjoyed the most is Arkham City, it easily has the best boss battles, the best stealth sequences and the best detective stuff, the one thing that bothered me the most is the writing, twists and the open world, it felt empty.

Arkham Asylum was okay but I was disappointed with choppy combat and the final boss with Joker. One thing that I liked the most is Killer Croc's lair section, that was easily the scariest part of the game.

Arkham Knight is a good game for what it is but it felt rushed because of the overused batmobile, lack of bosses, Scarecrow had little screentime for a main villain like him and the forced side quests (Even Riddler's riddles) to get the true ending.

I never played Origins so can't say anything about it.

  • Origins blew dogs for quaters. Arkham city by far if i had a choice and knight was just pretty to look at for a minute

  • If i had to choose*

  • yes. the arkham knight

  • By the way guys, which controllers do you prefer for the arkham games? Keyboard+mouse or xbox 360 controller? I wanted x360 because it had vibrate effect but then, it's hard to know which key is which. like how do you even do special takedown, bat swarm & disarm & destroy takedown in xbox360?

I recently replayed the series and my opinion has actually changed on them quite a bit.

    1. Arkham City This one is still my favourite, it may have some story hiccups when it comes to Hugo Strange but I really enjoyed the Joker storyline and the side missions (other than Ridder's) were excellent, the combat was ridiculously fun too. I think I spent more time on Penguin's ice lounge challenge stage than anything else. I remember trying to get my freeflow combo to 1000, never could though!

    2. Arkham Knight Now here is a one that used to be ranked FAR lower, when I first played AK I played it on launch day on PC. So yeah, my opinion was of course going to be extremely sour on it and the DLC was really questionable with the mini character episodes. Batman's one though adding more side-missions to the main game was great though, and I actually only played them ones for the first time in the newest play session, and I LOVED Ra's and Mr. Freeze's ones, they really could've benefited the game more if they were in the base game at launch though. Plus, the predator missions were incredibly fun in this one, I loved using the voice switch thingamajig! I still have problems with Knight but most of them I didn't really mind, I don't think you're in the Batmobile so much that you're in it most of the game (you're simply not) and the Arkham Knight's reveal was very disappointing.

    3. Arkham Asylum The game that started it all and to this day still has the best atmosphere of any Batman game, Arkham Asylum is creepy, and it is very isolated in comparison to it's sequels also, and it's something that really benefits this game as a whole. I think the only reason this one isn't ranked higher is simply because it's gameplay isn't as well refined, I also wasn't all too fond of this one's ending either since it did just end incredibly abruptly, Batman just beats the Joker and it ends just like that.

    4. Arkham Origins Now this one I just didn't simply like as much, I know it was just more-so a filler game between City and Knight and it really shows, if anything it is just more-so an expansion pack of Arkham City. The story was really good though, and I did like Troy Baker and Roger Craig Smith's younger takes on Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy respectively. Another thing that bothered me about Arkham Origins was it's lack of content in it's season pass (it still had more than Knight though to be honest) and only one additional playable character with it being Deathstroke. Other than that though I see Origins for what it is, I don't see it as a main series entry though and more-so a spin-off and by the looks of it, Rocksteady show it in the same regard since they called Arkham Knight an end to a "Trilogy".

  • Controller all the way! I actually used to play them on mouse and keyboard too but I think the freeflow combat flows better on a controller, to do the takedowns you press normally two buttons together (so for example, the combo takedown would be Y+B or triangle+circle).

  • I've played only the first two on PC. After seeing them in various walkthroughs and personal playthroughs with aforementioned two games, the title goes to Arkham City. It was truly a great Batman game. With a multitude of characters, and the moments that were awesome, sad and heartfelt. What more can be said?

  • My favorite is Batman Arkham City and Arkham Origins. Arkham Asylum was great too. I disliked Batman Arkham Knight because the entire game relied upon using the Batmobile and let me tell you that was the worst. I thought it was going to be used to get from place to place or chase villains. The entire game had you using the Batmobile which really took away from the feeling of being Batman.

  • City > Knight > Origins > Asylum.

I have a lot of love for Asylum, but purely looking at the games themselves it feels dated compared to the refined mechanics of the subsequent games. The Asylum was a cool location, and despite its age I still enjoy the game, but city brought an entire new atmosphere to the game. If Asylum was a bad night for the Batman, the other games brought with them what being the Batman nightly as well. Rooftop to rooftop, street to street, dealing with what Batman does every night in addition to the situation at hand.

Honestly, I missed out on Origins so I didn't experience a lot of the issues most people did. I really liked the year one story to the point it may be my favorite of the stories.

    1. City, great game
    2. Knight, a ok game
    3. Asylum, I suppose they've had to start somewhere
    4. Origins, I've only played at once and that was a long time ago so I can't really remember much
  • *brofist*
    Origins is under-appreciated.

  • Oh man.. I love the Arkham series, but it's kind of a toss up. Hmm..

    I'm gonna go with:
    1. City, just for the sheer amount of extra character content. I love Catwoman and Nightwing in particular, and then you had Batgirl, Robin, I loved the self contained narrative style of the villains for most of the game. Mad Hatter was great.

    1. Knight, because I loved the story with Talia, and again, I loved playing Catwoman, and Nightwing and Robin in the combat side stuff. The combat in the Arkham games is my favorite combat system in games along with Assassin's Creed (up until AC Origins, which is generic same old, same old). Knight really opened this stuff up, and I really enjoyed playing Catwoman in the open world stuff as well.

    2. Origins. It's just more of the same. I really enjoyed Penguin's lair; that stood out for me as a highlight environment.

    3. Asylum was one of the better core stories in gaming that year, and the predator gameplay I thought was actually the best of the series. I enjoyed the unique villain set pieces. This is like the Metal Gear Solid of the Arkham series. And I enjoyed playing Joker in the combat challenges.

I really loved all four games though. My only issue was that the open worlds in the later games all boiled down to endless thugs standing around on street corners, rather than getting to see a vibrant Gotham City. That detracted from my experience, but not enough to outweigh all the expanding story content and Batman family roster involvement.
