Choices don't affect dialogue?

There's been a couple of instances in the game where I've made a choice, but the dialogue later in the series says otherwise. When investigating the chemical explosion at the dock, I took the non-violent route when interrogating the sniper, yet dialogue with Alfred (IIRC) made out that I used excessive violence. In Episode 2, when Montoya kills Falcone, I didn't release the officer's name to Vale, but during a phone conversation with Alfred, he mentions that I did.

I'm familiar with other Telltale games, so I know that generally choices don't have major implications on the direction of the plot, but I would think that these are quite small events, so I would expect the dialogue to reflect my actions. What gives? Is there an issue with my game not saving my choices correctly or is this by design?

  • Alfred has that reaction no matter what you do. As far as releasing Montoya's name Idk since I always reluctantly tell Vicki.

  • Alfred always says that line after the dock sniper scene, if you hurt the guy then what Alfred says is a lot worse. The Montoya thing sounds like a bug though.
