Need Help Getting Past a Fight in Episode 2 - Android

So, I can't get past one part of the fight scene in the second episode. I've tried 100 times and it's pretty frustrating. I am still in the beginning with Asher. It's the part of the fight where you fall on the floor with another soldier and you have to grab the sword. Asher and the soldier stands up and a large circle pops up. I have tried tapping, holding, etc. It seems like as soon as I touch it he dies. If I do nothing, he dies. He gets knife stabbed multiple times. Hopefully that's enough of a description. Any help would be HIGHLY appreciated!

    I might be wrong but I think it’s a matter of timing. When the circle appears you wait a few seconds and it will (I think) reduce in size and become a bit more opaque. That’s when you tap it.
