Hey Guys!

My review for the second episode is now live, hope you enjoy it! A somewhat difficult game to review in some ways :D

Guybrush also undergoes a new transformation that I won’t spoil, but surprised me in it’s simplicity in the short term, yet its complexity in the long term. I guess now he is more of a pirate than ever!

It's nice of you to avoid spoiling it indeed, but the screenshot just under this sentence kind of ruin this ;)

Other than that, nice job, and this episodic-interviews thing sounds great ;)

Haha yeh that was kinda tongue in cheek, I am hoping most people will have played the game by now, or will not realise if they haven't :p It is very early on in the game anyway! Will be interesting to see if people agree with the lower score than episode one due to some technical issues! (Still a fantastic game though, I am glad Telltale are taking the franchise seriously :D)

Not low enough. You did not really go into any thematic elements of the game nor perform any in-depth analysis of anything in particular. You basically patted TellTale on the back whilst mentioning the same technical issues everyone already knows about.

Keep working at it, but put some soul into it.

Darylman, did you miss where I talked about Guybrush's new edge? Or the fact that I loved the new shipping/ sailing element?

I don't think I "just patted Telltale on the back" to be fair. It is kind of hard discussing the game in a review without giving away the plot, especially when the game isn't very long in the first place!

I don't really think there is much more to say about the game (without divulging story details), and the technical issues deserved a mention, as did the bugs. I know most reviewers just ignored it, but it is a part of the game and SHOULD be factored in.

I am sorry you felt that way anyway. I really can't justify the game going any lower than an 8 when I probably enjoyed it MORE than episode 1. As I said though, bugs/ length/ compression issues had to be taken into account.

As for the soul part, I spent ages on this article because as I said in my initial post, it was in many ways a difficult game to review! So again, I am sorry you didn't take that away from my writing!

(Btw just out of curiosity, did other players notice Guybrush being more cool in this episode, or was it just me?)

I have been thinking Darylman, and perhaps this style I used for the latest Terminator film would work well for my Monkey Island reviews?

Does anyone else think a spoilerfree review, followed by spoiler-warned bullet points is a good idea? Or do people prefer just the review itself, and more detailed discussion in the comments? Feedback is of course appreciated!

personally, I thought it was a great review, and very well done as is. unfortunately, if you post something on the internet and request feedback, some self-important crank is sure to sling mud at it. don't change your format because of it. bravo, looking forward to the leviathan review!

I really enjoyed your Terminator review much more. I felt like YOU were in the review, if that makes sense.

Cheers, I am glad you like that style of review! Of course, you will get more insight into my Tales of Monkey Island Episode 2 review when I do my mini-interview with Dom, so hopefully that will give you some more depth etc.
