Telltale in Retrospect

Thoughts change. People think differently over time and opinions about something they once thought was true is changed into either disagreement or strengthened belief. Back in August 2014 I posted a discussion about how I believed Omid caused Lee Everett's death indirectly. My arguments were poor and I just wanted to have some theory about the series, when people disagreed or called me out on it I responded in ridiculous and dramatic ways that only a 14 year old autist going through parents divorcing would. However since then I don't believe these ideals and I look back on those responses of mine with scorn. We all change our thoughts somewhere down the line.

Today I want to propose a question though. Considering the rate thoughts and opinions on the internet change and people mature and grow into different types of content, taking a look back at something you loved or hated in retrospective can bring on a lot of interesting thoughts you never had before. So I wanna ask, fellow forum goers, are there any Telltale games that your thoughts have drastically changed on? Opinions you once had on a game's fundamental elements that changed further down the line?

And if you wanna bring up non-Telltale episodic games that's totally fine! I wanna hear everyone's thoughts on this subject. I'll probably join in the discussion when it really gets started. I'm interested in hearing thoughts from everyone.

  • The Walking Dead season 1 used to be my favorite game until I discovered Fallout 4.

  • When rumors started flying around about a possible new Minecraft game I was so excited; I initially thought it was Mojang who was going to be developing the project but it was then announced that Telltale games was going to be developing the project which made me even more excited because at the time we had never seen another gaming company develop anything Minecraft, it was just Mojang. Telltale had made (and still has made) some of my favorite games of all time, I also played Minecraft a lot at the time so this was major news for me. Fast forward to today and I still think that the game is good but I think it could have been better. Sure, It featured items that we haven't seen before in Minecraft and it also had those Youtuber Episodes but I think that if they added iconic Minecraft characters like Steve and Alex I would have played and liked it more.

I still love Season 1 of The Walking Dead and it's one of the games that I keep going back to and still find new shit to gush about . But the outdated visuals and the (at times) really bad animation has caused the game to not age too well. I mean it's still a great game, (one that will be remembered for a long time) but that stuff is really hard to not notice.

I recently watched someone who had saved Doug stream the game and that animation with him towards the end of episode two when he gives the batteries to Clem is awful. Especially compared to Carley's which looks way less stiff and horrible looking.
