Cannot get ToMI chapter 1 to work

I got it off Amazon and downloaded it. My girlfriend changed the resolution and blammo! No game anymore. It goes black. Says signal out of range. I tried changed the resolution on my computer to a lower setting and still same. Can anyone help me out?

    Try hitting alt+enter when the black screen is up. That will put you into windowed mode and let you readjust the settings.

    I have tried that. I have tried uninstalling it, then re-installing while settings are back at normal and still same thing. I get sound though. Thanks for the advice though :)
