Telltale is back baby
Just finished playing through the new episode and my jaw has literally dropped. I thought Telltale ran out of ideas after The New Frontier but it looks like they're back in action and slapping hearts out here once again.
I havent felt this way since Season 1 and that's saying alot. The characters all have their own unique personality and i cant help but care alot about each one whether it's in a good or bad way. You can expect things to go south in this game like any other TWD game but the way Telltale is executed it in this episode really had me in awe.
I also feel like the graphics here is what The New Frontier should have been. Absolutely stunning art style... captures that unique comic look better than any other Telltale game (or any game, for that matter) with tons of detail. Runs very smoothly even though i opted for the PS4 version over my tricked out PC this time. The gameplay is what you'd expect from Telltale, but i do enjoy the new mechanic when walking around and killing zombies as Clementine... gives it more of a Last of Us feel while staying faithful to the point and click game that it's meant to be.
An absolutely amazing intro to the final season of The Walked Dead. Took me roughly 3 hours to finish and i did not regret a single second of it even though i gotta get up early for work tomorrow.
Keep it up Telltale.

I agree with all of this. Although, the ending felt slightly rushed is my only complaint.
Agreed. By the end I was strongly feeling like this was a return to form. I felt more for this cast within one episode than I did for the brunt of the cast through the entirety of seasons 2 and 3. And the length, the glorious length! The tension! I dare say this episode one beats out season one's episode one. I just hope Telltale can keep up the momentum, because I've been let down by a strong start before (I thought Telltale Batman had a very promising beginning but feel it petered out as the season wound down).
I think it was done on purpose, not every situation needs a long time to progress. I think they wanted to increase that sense of panic and it worked imo
I really liked it, would have loved more choices but as long as they impact the story I'm fine with it.
The ending and Marlon's craziness came out a little rushed, although you get hints of his anger issues at the start, I think it would have been better if it was saved for Episode 2 and so you'd get to spend a little more time to bond with him, though I could see that not working since we needed a dramatic ending
