I keep wondering if the Trade was a pre-arranged or just a "Hunting trip gone wrong".
I don't think the raider group would've just taken … morethe twins if they had just crashed into Marlon and the others. I think they would've killed Marlon and taken the rest because letting Marlon and Brody go back would be quite risky considering they and their group could potentially attack.
I think it was a pre-arranged deal (which would make Marlon's actions even worse) where Violet was also supposed to be traded along with Minnie but since she opted to stay, she avoided that fate. I'm not sure why Brody wasn't taken instead but I'm guessing Marlon was fonded of her enough to save her.
I hope we learn about the Trade more in upcoming episodes
You know, I of all people hate to mess with "the fun," but considering what unfortunately happened with Aron's thread, I'm gonna suggest ya'll cool it down.
What if the reason the raiders want the sisters only is because they did something wrong? Like they don't want Brody or Marlon, because they didn't do anything to them. Especially since Abel is apparently part of this group (but I don't think that's the case, how cool would it be if Abel would help Ericson if they allowed him to stay there?) and we could see he didn't want Clem to die he let her live.
Let's say Minnie and Sophie were hunting one day with Brody and Marlon, but the two duos were separated. And they accidentally killed a raider. As they escape, another raider spots them but can't get to them. Minnie and Sophie decide to keep this a secret but weeks later Marlon and Brody and Sophie and Minnie, whilst hunting, come across the raiders again who ask for the killer twins. Of course, Marlon and Brody don't know the twins accidentally did this, and the raiders don't know about the school or the safe zone. The raiders ask for the sisters and Marlon makes an extremely hard choice. They go back to school and decide to keep it a secret.
The whole 'my sisters died around this time of year' with Brody I think doesn't make any sense. 'You know what that means' and all that. After all, it doesn't sound right to have raiders take children annually. They shouldn't have included those lines because it just confuses me more.
That'd be an interesting reveal, if another lowkey callback.

It does indirectly imply that the twins wouldn't have been the only ones traded off..

Yeah, I know some kids might've left at the start but 12 kids at a boarding school? You'd think it'd be at least 30. When I first heard about the school, I thought there'd be your Jockeys, your nerds, your love interests (Brody) we doin' this Canis Canim Edit style! But no, there are no bullies in an apocalypse. Louis stole a piano, Omar unintentionally killed his family by making the food too hot.

I don't know why, but I don't think it's sexual slavery. Very well could be though. I think it's slavery of the regular sort, and that it's for gardening. Sure, for digging holes you would prefer Marlon, however, Marlon is the group leader that they are currently making deals with. Once a hole is dug and the plants have been established, most of the work is in day to date pruning and harvesting. Where is the tobacco coming from for those rolled cigarettes? I would think you would not start growing tobacco until you already had plenty of food growing. A couple of little kids taught how to properly prune and harvest would actually be quite effective.
I think they know where the school is. The "safe zone" keeps shrinking. I think that is the result of on-going deals that Marlon is making with the bandits. They are hoping that without a fight over time they can make deals to get everything that Marlon and his group had. Marlon is scared to tell the truth about what is going on, and will make pretty much any deal that the bandits want, especially if it's incremental where it's only a little at a time.
I'm very suspicious of the fact that the green house that is on school grounds is off limits. It's "overgrown." Well if it's overgrown with vegetables of course you would want to harvest them. Many of the leaves of common vegetables can, and often are cooked for salads.
I doubt the bandits are good guys but lets look at a few things. The train area that Clementine and AJ got food from had two walkers tied together with a sign that says something like "Don't kill them, they wanted to be this way," does that sound like something a bunch of total monsters would do? The area was clearly an area that was "owned" by the bandits. Maybe this is just a prejudice I have where I expect people that are bad to be bad 24/7, but the fact that they maintained this area somewhat and kept things a certain way makes me think that they are sentimental, the kind of people that care for their own.
Like every season of the Walking Dead, I expect the bad guys to be pretty bad. I do think there is some chance that although they are monstrous, they are not quite as monstrous as we currently think. I expect that they know where the school is and have been leaving it alone because they are able to make deals with Marlon for more of what they have. Now that Marlon is dead, I expect that in the next episode someone from their group will be coming to the school to tell everyone what their new deal is.
If it were normal slavery, just labor, they'd have taken Marlon before any of the girls because he's the biggest and strongest and would make the best manual laborer. It's why back during American slavery, most house slaves were women and most field/mine/whatever slaves were men, they could expect more production out of the men.

It's a colloquialism meaning that if you had an elephant in your room it'd be taking up space and if nobody was talking about it it'd be weird. It can refer to many things like an impending divorce , cheating, anything big people are avoiding talking about.
Marlon would also eat more, and depending on the biases of the bandits, him being male and older they may think he would be harder to control. Also, I think they are making deals with him. As long as he knows what is going on at the school and willing to talk/give away what the school has, he's useful to them.
Edit: You may think that they could just take over the school, which they probably could. But doing so they might lose people in the process, and maybe they fear that forcing too many people at once into labor would increase the chance that they have a slave revolt. They probably have a slow indoctrination process into becoming part of their group. If they get a bunch of people at once it might not work.

I was in this room once... It had an elephant in the center and eggshells just scattered all over the floor and then this random bush that some kid was beating around vs the actual bush. It was a really strange experience for me. I mean, up until I woke up.

You guys think Violet is more attractive than Brody? Really?
No. Brody is way more attractive than Violet.
Yeah she's got a Chloe Price thing going on.
Neither of them look that great in my opinion, I think Clem beats them both
Should I know who that is?
The blue hair in my avatar

Don't forget serial killer mystery investigation and time manipulation.
The high school drama was the biggest aspect of the first episode and that's what put me off of it.
Well it's one of my favorite games.
You know what, you're not the first person to suspect that and I'm wondering if I missed something.
...What are you asking now?
Yeah, seriously.
You know, I of all people hate to mess with "the fun," but considering what unfortunately happened with Aron's thread, I'm gonna suggest ya'll cool it down.
Violet is a beautiful, bright ray of sunshine. Brody is average.

I assumed it was full of delinquents to begin with.
Marlon did say they had lost around 30 other kids over the years.

Trying to figure out if relating this to Elephants is humorous or fucked up....
