Your thoughts on The Final Season so far?
Yeah we are only one Episode in but I am genuinely curious as to how people view the characters, relationships, choices and gameplay so far ? Did it exceed your expectations or surprise you?

I think the season is amazing. Alvin's character development with Tenn and the others and how he grew to apologize to Marlon and make friends with Ruby in the path that I witnessed was great, as well as the amazing cliffhanger that ended with Marlon being shot in the head and thusly killed by Alvin, which left me wanting to play for more to see what would happen. The choices were great and reflected what I'd actually want to do if I was in those tight spots that Clementine and Alvin were in and the gameplay is great, although I do wish that there were more combos that could be used besides the stun and hit mechanic. Maybe Clementine could target other areas other than using the same combo all the time, but it's definitely a keeper.
The relationships were great. At first, I didn't think the school kids were going to be that good from the trailer and all of the reveals, but Telltale honestly blew this one out of the water and changed my mind. Marlon, the other guy which I forgot, Violet, Ruby, Brody, and especially Tenn were great. There were even a few funny moments with the awkward kid named Willy and I liked the attention to detail that Telltale had when they were working these scenes with Alvin Jr. and Clementine respectively, especially the interactions where Alvin had to apologize for elbowing Marlon in the junk for alerting him from behind.
A 8/10 from me.
I'm relieved the characters feel real and not forced, interaction with each character is interesting in my opinion and they all have their own unique characteristics so that's good.
The choices don't feel like they're gonna change much just yet (The same ending every time) but perhaps they will matter more in Episode 2.
The gameplay is really fun, exploring is pretty good, finding collectibles and doing optional achievements is a really neat touch. Combat is nice, although the animations kinda repeat themselves, and I'd wish AJ would help more.
I also wish we'd get more weapons to fight walkers like bows.
The story is pretty interesting although the ending felt a bit rushed.
As for relationships I guess we'll have to see how much picking Violet / Louis will matter in the future.
AJ is a bit annoying but understandable since he's a kid who has grown in the apocalypse and he didn't encounter many people to talk to. I really wish him shooting Marlon was determinant, even if Marlon would leave and we'd never see him again.
It's great. I played it with no expectations at all after ANF, but it was surprisingly good. It definitely brought back the hype for TWD.
I love it so far. It really looks like Telltale listened, they improved graphics, the free roam is back, and the updated combat is a nice needed change, I'm happy the game requires you to do more than just press a button every 10 minutes like ANF. The characters are also way better, and I can already say they're more memorable than all the ones in ANF episode 1 and 2. I'm hopeful for this season. Oh, and also, I love the character of AJ, I'm curious to see who he will become by the end depending on the choices we make. I was worried they were going to make him an annoying shitbird, but I'm happy that's not the case
It's good so far, ANF 's first episode was 45 minutes, TFS's first episode was 3 hours long.
They actually take the time here to introduce characters, build up relationships, make us like them before mindlessly blowing their brains out "kuch" Mariana "kuch" Oh and it actually has loads of hubs HALLELUJAH! The freeform combat is a nice touch too but it could use a few more weapons, maybe the ability to pull out a gun with limited ammo or something.
I loved it. All the characters were fleshed out and real, AJ is adorable and realistic. I really came to care about him over the episode. I loved the twist with Marlon and what it suggests for the rest of the season. I just hope they keep it up and the next 3 episodes are just as good! Also, the combat felt alot more dangerous than before, like you were actually going to die.
Also Marlon shot me in the face when I somehow failed a button mash, even though I was really focused lol. I liked that.
amazing like season 1, amazing. just hoping clem isnt forced into a romance
I'm 100% positive that it's gonna be optional. Telltale doesn't want to piss off the fans. My guess, it will be either Louis, Violet or none, so everyone feels included
I personally think, it had a good start. I was getting old school vibes, and I really was enjoying myself, even though I'm not into this "teens" situaton. But that damn ending.... It just proved that the choices don't matter at all. The thing AJ did, wasn't justified at the playthrough I chose, and it came out of nowhere. I'm pretty dissapionted because of that ending. Other than that, it was what ANF should be from the beggining. That's just my opinion.
It is better than ANF so far. A lot of good stuff like roaming, teaching AJ and plot is not groundbreakingly bad. What I dont like slightly is that whole episode feels like it took pieces out of each previous game and put it together throughout episode. Feels like there is no creativity to make something unique. Though I like it way better than ANF approach I suppose. Also, writing at some moments feels weak because of illogical decisions just to advance plot.
So, Im looking forward to next episode and I hope that it wont be some boring conflict between groups plot all over again.
I loved it. After ANF, my expectations for the final season were pretty much close to zero, but boy, did Telltale really deliver. The characters were actually likeable and fun to talk to, AJ was adorable, the combat was alright (but I wish there were more ways to kill the zombies, the repeating animation got kinda tiring after a while) and the episode was really long (took me around 3 (!) hours).
I'm impressed, Telltale. Looking forward to the next one. If the next episodes are at least as good as the first one, then this might actually end up in my TOP 3 of Telltale games.
8.5/10
Quite impressed, the season builds on the successes and fixes the flaws in several ways
Character improvements, Louis feels like Luke but with a bit of humour added and violet feels like Jane but more human, both are better characters as a result. AJ is honestly the best written kid so far in the series building off previous successes while giving us something new
Believable interactions. Hubs always felt a bit gamey for me however later seasons didnt have much interaction at all the balance between the two was good
It feels new, a group of kids run by kids and everything to do with that is well done
No duds or whiny cunt characters (brody was almost reaching this point), its too far in the apocalypse for them to be around
Music, Gameplay all felt like a good return to season 1 but without all the aimless walking in season1
With all this said I hope episode 2 doesnt fall back on this and make characters do 180's etc which telltale games often do, though witha roadmap it seems the story is mapped out which is good to see
I just replayed the encounter with Abel and I pushed him through the window. If he's not dead, oh boy.......
I honestly regret that decision on my first play-through now, I can't really see anything positive about doing that, especially since we still have plenty of food afterwards.
One thing that I didn't know would happen is that both Clementine and AJ are looking out for each other, it's not where Clementine is only protecting AJ, and he's helpless. It's honestly makes their relationship a lot different than Lee and Clem.
That's why I like his character more now, and it honestly showed in the ending scene where AJ is asking where Clementine is.
Fuck him. He pointed a gun at us. He could've asked nicely before resulting to violent gestures. Besides, the only people from school Abel knows are Marlon, the twins, and Brody, none of whom were there when Clementine met him. He doesn't know Clementine, Louis, Violet, and AJ are from the school, although he might definitely put 2 and 2 together, and. Also, he doesn't know where they're stationed. Doesn't really matter now though, we saw him get snatched by walkers.
EDIT: Actually, the raiders know where they are, Brody said that Marlon would've given us to the raiders "to make them go away". Marlon must've lied and said they're hidden to make everyone feel safe.
Even though I'm one of the few who quite enjoyed ANF this premiere was leagues better in a lot of areas, and shows telltale have been listening to feedback and improving on things that were just starting to get old. The freewalk sections are actually quite big this time around, and there's no obvious invisible walls sticking out like previous seasons. The introduction of free moving combat provides a greater sense of interaction and some actual strategy and challenge in certain instances. I loved the pacing, and how the first 2 acts were split into days rather than the usual 5-6 5-30 min chapters we have been getting for 6 years, and I honestly like the entire cast even the minor kids who I know are gonna bite the dust in episode 2 and beyond. Overall I'm seriously impressed and its easily the best premiere the series has had, and one of telltale's best opening episodes in quite a while. If they can keep it up I can see it easily beating season 1 for me.
AJ is like the reverse clementine, we arent teaching him to survive we are teaching him morality
I heard gunshots afterwards. Either way I still think attacking wasn't a good idea, because that now puts bad blood between him and Clementine. Whether or not he was asking politely for food, (It's not like he took all of their food, since we see the multiple duffel-bags that Clem and Violet carry afterwards), and whether or not it was deserved, it escalated the situation and now Abel could come back for revenge against Clementine.
I thought it was very well done and quite enjoyable to play and replay several more times after.
It was really good,i liked the updated graphics and gameplay, story wasnt bad either but theres still that annoying issue from anf with the dialogue text, who remembers the infamous "tell him off" option in ANF? its annoying when u dont know what the character is actually going to say,it started with ANF and i have no idea why it hasnt been fixed yet
Super well done. Its obvious Telltale stepped up there game, and are pouring everything they got into this final season. I'll be one happy fan if the rest of the episodes continue to clock in at about 2.5 hours each (although longer never hurts).
The only thing I'd like to see more of is some freedom. I loved the opportunity to explore and walk around with Lee in the first season. Like freely exploring the house in episode 4, opening any doors you wanted and looking around the room. Having additional dialogue options with characters. Things like that really add onto the experience, and further expand on character development.
I find that the school is big, and there is plenty of room for exploration there. If they gave us the opportunity to just walk around with Clem, and go through the rooms we want, and run into different characters, that would be awesome in my opinion. I also think it would be a good chance to let us learn more about the characters in terms of where they came from/ what happened to them up until this point. We as players got the chance to tell them about Clem's past, but I was slightly disappointed when we didn't get the chance to question them individually on more serious topics.
The wait for the next episode is going to kill me, but I know it'll be worth it. This is the final season, so for once I'm actually happy about waiting in-between episodes because I don't want the story to end.
