That Damn Dog (May contain spoilers)

Okay, one thing I noticed no one has touched on is, that damn dog Rosie. Did you decide to get to know her or did you refuse. Also how do you think that choice will affect the next episodes given her Master, Marlen is dead? I personally refused to get to know the dog. After what happened in season 2 with that other dog I definitely wasn't going to let Clem touch Rosie. Now I'm wondering, because Marlon is dead, will Clem have to learn how to control Rosie on her own. It's very interesting to think about. So what're your opinions?

Comments

  • Im assuming they will lock it up and try to bond with it as marlon was the only one who could control it, you wont be able to if you refused.

Personally while I bonded with it (no real reason not to) I dont think canon wise clem would, she was to traumatized around dogs

For me, there was a reason. Not to trust Marlon. Not only that, I also thought the next episodes where Clem will have to be alone with the dog will be very interesting.

  • I dont know why you wouldnt trust him at that point but whatever

  • Yeah at that point Marlon seemed like a really cool and well put together dude. It wasn't until after the Rosie interaction that he began to let his facade crack a bit and show just how stressed he is.

  • Well I decided to let it learn Clem's sent, that way once it's finally time to eat it I can slip in close and hide the blade so fear doesn't taint the meat.

  • Your Clem is going to hell with my Clem,

  • But they took no shit from anyone on their way there.

I think Clementine may have to put it down if it tries to retaliate on AJ for what he did to his master.

  • I bonded with Rosie. Seemed like a nice little opportunity to help Clem get over her trauma from Sam the dog.

I'm really glad I did because with Marlon gone, Clem will likely be one of the only people who can actually get the dog to obey her. It's gonna pay off exponentially when we are confronting the raider group, not to mention we can keep Rosie from hurting AJ over killing her master.

  • I trusted Rosie. She's smart and seems like she'll obey Clementine in time. I don't think TellTale is going to pull another Sam; or rather, they'd better not.

I think Clem will have to learn to tame her by herself. Though if not, the children can put her down and eat her. All that muscle on that dog it'll be a good meal.

  • Oh gosh, it’s going to be rather difficult training Rosie even if you did gain her trust. Her master was killed in front of her eyes by a newcomer. I wonder how that’s going to play out in the next episode.

  • They already said in the Reddit AMA that Rosie isn't getting eaten lol.

I've loved Rosie so far. Pit bulls have been heavily vilified in recent years, thanks in part to illegal dog fighting and irresponsible owners, but if raised properly, they can be the canine version of Clementine: Cuddly as a marshmellow, and only brutal if the situation calls for it.

It's appropriate for the final season of this series to give us a redemptive image of dogs after our nightmare-fuel run-in with Satanic Sam.

  • I'm semi sad about all the dog stuff. I love dogs so when I had to kill that one in season 2 I was like 'WHY TELLTALE?! WHY?!' And now Rosie? I get the feeling that dog is gonna flip.

  • Pits used to be nanny dogs a couple hundred years ago. Like you said, dog fighting rings and shitty owners created the issue with them being vilified.

Here's some old photos to help prove they used to be nanny dogs.

  • I stopped watching the show before they added that tiger. What happened?

  • Like in the comic, the tiger got overwhelmed by a huge group of walkers and was eaten. It was very poorly done on the show.

  • That's unbelievably sad. That someone would take a nanny dog and change em like that. People suck.

  • Rosie is actually an American Staffordshire Terrier, a sub breed of pitbull that are good natured, courageous, and highly trainable.

I doubt Clementine will be the only one taking care of the dog. I imagine that the other kids who know Rosie better will also step up and help out. These kids are pretty responsible.

  • Eh. It's not like all of them have been fighting dogs, it's just the fighting dogs got the most press exposure, especially when they attack people. I've hat pits. They're perfectly sweet dogs if raised like any other dog.

  • Yep, I've met pits that are sweet as can be. It still just sucks though.

  • I loved Rosie and didn't hesitate to gain her trust. Not sure I could get along with people who passed on the opportunity.

What breed is she exactly? The wiki page says she's an American Bulldog. Doesn't look like a bulldog to me.

First playthrough, I did not trust Rosie, I figured Clem would be so freaking traumatized from the dog in season 2 there would be no way in HELL she would go near that dog. I have known people that have been bit by dogs and let me tell you they wont go within 10ft of them let alone sniff your hand, LET ALONE A MUSCLE PIT-BULL. It messes you up. I think it would be x3 for Clem.

(not that I don't like pit-bulls, but Clem would have no clue you know?)

  • I’ve been wondering what breed Rosie is. Personally I think Presa canario? Could be different breed or mix. This one r minds me of Rosie except brindle color, but they come in brown color. Did telltale ever say her breed?

  • I trusted Marlon and Rosie but I swear if the dog goes mad and tries to even slightly hurt Clementine/AJ or anyone close to them I won't hesitate a second to kill it.

  • dog is gonna probably die in E2
