Why isn't there "Next time on the walking dead" anymore?

For season 1 and I think for season 2 too, there was always at the end of the episode a short trailer about what's gonna happen in the next episode. Why isn't this included anymore?

Comments

  • I wondered that too

  • I imagine they scrapped it altogether because what happened in the trailers would inevitably be tweaked or changed entirely by the next episode.

Also, it keeps it more open. Let's our imaginations run wild.

  • on the final episode of the season they don't have a trailer so maybe since this is the final season no trailers

  • How do you know they aren't gonna make a trailer for the final episode? I remember that they made it for season 2

  • that may have been launch trailers for the last episode but i don't recall any trailers of episode 5 from any game

  • I'm glad that they don't have those anymore. I don't like spoilers and I like being surprised.

  • Same reason they stopped doing episode menu cards--so people can't complain about stuff that was supposed to happen that they wanted to happen not happening.

  • No they scrapped it from there latest games not just the walking dead

  • Basically a lot of people complained that the plot was changed or some scenes removed and I think they removed "next time" sequences because of that. Especially with TWD season 1 where episode cards, most of the time, were not a final representation of the actual episode.

  • Ready to wreck for track walkers, Duck?

Yeah. I mean, the episode slides are still a thing but it amazes me how some people look at them literally, like, what's on them will definitely happen in the episode itself. It's just not true. They are meant to be more symbolic representation of what the episode will be about.

  • So I just played Episode 1 of Batman last night and I gotta say, as corny as that was, I kinda miss these next time segments. Especially given what's actually been going on with the Final Season.

    [Updated] Thoughts?

  • Yep it's this. Kent Mudle ;) said that

  • Also because of the production values. Too much unecessary work they said

  • And those 'next time' aren't always accurate anyway. Like the ones they did for Borderlands; their 'next times' showed stuff that never happened, which wasted time and money. Same thing for Walking Dead. Waste of time and money.

  • Serious talk, how much money did it cost to record a few quick scenes for like a minute at the end of the episode?

Who knows, also sometimes they could be longer than one minute i think.

I'm glad they stopped making them it was just a huge waste of time.

  • Those scene-locations have to be build first and then they had to create animations, sounds and voice overs and put them all together.

It's just not worth it. They're also annoying on multiple playthroughs since you can't skip them. I'm glad they're gone.

  • Some of them clearly just use playholder or dummied sets anyway, e.g. The Wolf Among Us.
