This is gonna be a short and quick rant about what I dislike about BTS, if you wanna throw in your two cents, by all means.
Basically, I honestly don't like the forced obsession Chloe has with Rachel. I get it, Max left and she had no one afterward, but you meet this girl ONE time at a party for a brief moment, and suddenly you and her are best friends and the talk of the town. Everyone's like "Oh, I didn't know you and Rachel were besties!", like, In what ways could that possibly concern you? Also, the lengths Chloe goes through for her are so stupid. She's already on her 2nd strike, and yet she skips school to hang with Rache, which ends up getting her suspended for the rest of the school yearl. And getting deeply involved in Rachel's little insignificant family feud while ignoring the one family member she actually has left is.........retarded. Breaking into her dad's study, fucking it up just to get Rachel 1 step closer to her mom was beyond while, in the end, getting pushed 5 steps back was beyond retarded. Going to the old mill to give that dickhead his money in return for Sera's safety was........words could not explain how idiotic that was. She easily could've called the cops and said "There's a man holding a woman hostage for money". But no, she goes and gets herself fucked up all for Rachel to see her mom, who in the end, leaves without seeing her daughter. I'm so glad she died in the first LiS.

um ok i need to rant in response to this lol. i also recently finished the LiS games last week, and BTS is my fav game ever.
i totally disagree with like almost everything said here. almost. kinda. it's a little hard because it seems we played hella different games.
so like, chloe doesn't have an obsession with rachel. not really. rachel was just like a popular girl with many friends who showed an interest in chloe who was a sad loner with no friends so yah she's obv gonna be flattered and stuff and it might seem like an obsession but there's another word for it and i totally can't think of it right now. not crush. ugh. i dunno. but you know what i mean. anywho. everyone being like "omg ur besties with rachel we didn't even know!" isn't really trying to force like the idea that they are in fact bffs or anything but they're showing how like people at school are always in everyone's business and trying to find out everything about everyone and this was all only caused by that pic of them together being posted on facebook which made ppl think they were besties or whatevs. esp victoria chase. she's totally jealous if you didn't get that already. i think she's jealous that rachel is more popular and also jealous that rachel is now hanging out with chloe instead of her. oh and i'm not sure how that whole suspension part works out but you get to play it different ways. like one way you get expelled and one you only get suspended which is no big deal really, but it's all up to how you chose to play and if you let rachel take the blame but i didn't bcuz i rly didn't care if they expelled me yolo.
rachel's family problems aren't insignificant either. i completely disagree with that. it's a huge deal esp since rachel was so close with her father. chloe gets involved because she likes rachel and wants to help because chloe is like the nicest girl ever deep down.
she broke into rachel's dad's room because she knew he was a liar and had to get the proof herself. and she did so good for her. and again, a major difference between our playthroughs, i didn't give damon any money because i already spent it. you can spend your money very differently and give it to different people through the game. like i stole money in the beginning then bought weed then stole drew's money but held it until he got beat then gave it back to him so i had no money at the end of the game.
they couldn't go to the cops either because rachel's dad was district attorney and i don't think they'd get very far doing that anyway so chloe and rachel did what was best and it worked. aaaaand sera and rachel CAN meet, but you need to convince her or something. there are different endings depending on your choices. so if you don't like it then you made bad choices lol.
i need to talk about rachel and chloe's relationship now. this game has a point system called "intimacy score" or something like that. it changes dialogues and choices based on what you tell people and how you act around rachel. they even have a different kinda kiss based on how high the score is. i personally think the story works a little better and feels more canon if you play their relationship as more non-romantic. example being the night after the tempest play and you have an option to kiss her, but another option is asking her to get a tattoo which if you read her missing photo in LiS is the same star on her wrist that chloe draws in that option so maybe that was canon. i'd like to believe that when they get to know each other much better and actually become bffs then chloe suddenly realizes like "omg i'm in love with my best friend" which i think is more relatable. depending on your options, she does say something about that in BTS, where she's like talking about how her feelings towards rachel are confusing and stuff which i found rly realistic and nice to see in a game.
sry for the long rant i just love these games and BTS especially. farewell was good too but god did it make me hate max even more lol

It's things like this that made me feel like she was going above and beyond, especially for someone she only knew for like 2 or 3 days. Mind you, Chloe ends up getting suspended for the rest of the school year and got beat up by Maverick or whatever his stupid name was.
To Chloe, they are. She was more invested with Rachel's family than her own. She broke into Rachel's dad's study just to find evidence on where they could find Sera. Yeah it was for a good cause, but look at the lengths she was willing to go for someone she hadn't even known for a whole week. Her getting involved got her beat and got Rachel stabbed.
Still, after hearing about the different options and actions that can be made, it just doesn't even come close to the 1st LiS for me.
omg do not even get me started on how much i hate max.
ok i have this theory. remember the alternate timeline with paralyzed chloe? and bitchy mcbitchface max who was in vortex club? WELL they are in fact the exact same people as in the main timeline. like, same personalities and everything. they just had different experiences. chloe was still a sweetheart. maxhole was still the same COLD EVIL CREATURE FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL. they BOTH completely neglected chloe. max was always selfish and manipulative.
even in the main timeline, read the txts from uberskank max in BTS who sent like barely a handful of inattentive txts to chloe like hours or days after chloe tried talking to her and NEVER initiated a convo then eventually completely ignored a girl who was once her """"best friend"""". according to chloe in LiS and depending on how you played the farewell episode, max didn't even tell chloe she was moving until she was already gone. chloe literally found out from a tape max left RIGHT after her father's funeral. like wtf. the entire time max was in seattle, she didn't even think of chloe while max was ALL chloe was thinking about, even her journals were written as unsent letters to max. until rachel saved her from that loneliness. then when max comes back (for mr jefferson, not chloe) she doesn't even tell chloe she's back! for a MONTH! they don't even reunite until chloe saves max from nathan and warren fighting.
max is a heartless woman. the ending of LiS was terrible because i had to choose between chloe (who i love) and arcadia bay (which would cause chloe guilt over all those people dying to save her) when i actually wanted to feed max to that fucking storm.

chloe breaking into rachel's dad's office didn't seem like such a big deal idk. not to me or to chloe, rly. she gets into a bunch of stuff anyway so sneaking into that room to help out rachel with this major issue in her life is just a very nice thing to do for a friend. and when they decided this, rachel was in the hospital after she got stabbed PROTECTING chloe. it was such a beautiful scene. it showed how much rachel cares for chloe. she was like "back off don't touch my friend"
idk how much of the game you interacted with, but chloe wasn't ignoring joyce or anything. you can tell from some dialogues and options that chloe feels like joyce is trying to replace her father with david (a very real feeling from people with parents who start dating again). chloe really doesn't get along with david, but more than that she's still hella broken up about her father while joyce is dating again and even taking pictures of william down and putting them away and she sold her engagement ring and stuff which hurts chloe even more. there's even an option where chloe and rachel are talking about leaving and they mention joyce and chloe is like "she doesn't need me since she has david now" which rly shows how she's feeling with all that.
idk why i liked BTS so much more than the original. maybe bcuz it was more real or i identify a lot with chloe and hate max beyond words.
I mean, she did save Chloe when Nathan shot her in the bathroom, that time when Mr. Jefferson shot her in the junkyard, and when she had to chooses to save Chloe instead of Arcadia. That's 3 times but she's "heartless"
She did some pretty fucked up shit, but I think saving someone's life 3 times makes up for all the wrong she did.
I know. And it was kinda hard trying to pay attention to BTS. It was just so.....uninteresting. I don't regret buying it or anything. I'm glad I did, got to experience the events "Before The Storm" first hand, so that was nice. But I just couldn't stay focused on it.

I like Chloe's attitude, her style and the way she talks. She's very cool, but I just like Max times more. I also like Victoria and Steph.
I felt a little bad for David in BTS but I remembered how he tried to order Chloe around, so I treated him like shit in BTS, except for when he tried to fist bump me. When he slapped Chloe I really didn't like him. Like, how less of a man are you to hit a 19 year old???
Whenever it came to David, I'd never fold. He was in her house trying to boss her around like, who are you again??

she "saved" chloe the same way she'd "save" anyone else if they happened to be in chloe's position. max has NO FEELINGS. she "apologizes" to chloe for completely abandoning her and then ignoring her for 5 years, but it's only because it was the "nice" thing to do. i think i said it in like a different thread, like max is the opposite of victoria. victoria is like outwardly rude and tries to portray herself as careless or whatever but is nice deep down, max tries to make everyone think she's so sweet and innocent but deep down she's a selfish megabitch and it shows when she's in seattle or when she's in the alternate timeline. she's just "omg i'm so busy doing big important fun things with all my new friends while you're crying over your dead dad and having no friends and i can't waste anymore time with you, chloe lololol i'm having way too much fun without you!". i just. ugh.
idk how you couldn't stay interested in BTS. it's so amazing. maybe it's because i'm so much like chloe. it's crazy how similar. like everything i'd say irl she'd say too. like that one conversation when she came home and was about to leave again then joyce was like "where are you going" and chloe was all "don't worry about it" then joyce was like "will you be back tonight" and chloe was like "i dunno". like i've had that exact conversation so many times it's literally crazy.
funny thing is, when i was watching vids on youtube after i finished the game, another similar way chloe acted around her mom seemed really mean to me. but i do it all the time irl and i totally didn't even catch it when i played through the game, only when i watched the scene again. when i played it i was like "oh yah i totally say that too. right there with u, chloe". i could use this game to gain like some insight or perspective or something and change my behavior, but i won't.
oh and the david thing. i didn't initially HATE david until after i finished the games and saw that clip of him hitting chloe in LiS on youtube. what. the. fuck. kinda made me glad that i got him shot like 80 times in the darkroom when i was trying to guide him in the mr jefferson fight. he wasn't SO bad in BTS but he was still a total dick. and i saw a vid of if you choose to refuse the photo and he grabs chloe again like he's gonna hit her and i was like oh hell no. so yah i really hate david now.
i hate eleanor too, so we can agree on that. i wish there was an option for my psychojavi to kill her. i hate traitors and cowards. they're the worst. besides max.

Still, for someone you say doesn't care about Chloe, she did pick her over a whole town. I'd say she cares quite a lot.
I probably don't remember/know as much about LiS1 and BTS as much as you, but weren't her parents moving though? I don't think she had much of a choice on staying.
I tried, I honestly did. I went in hoping it would be as good as the first one, but this forum was way more interesting than BTS at the time.
she could determinately choose to pick chloe over arcadia bay. and this was after chloe told max she wanted to sacrifice herself so yah sorry i can't give max the credit here either. and i need to mention how i chose not to kill chloe both at the end of the game and in the alternate reality when she wants you to help her commit suicide. both times i knew what the "right" thing to do was, but i couldn't. ;( max the heartless bitch could tho i'm sure. or she wouldn't do it to save herself any feelings of guilt because she's selfish and evil. either way she chooses would be wrong.
and my issue with her moving to seattle, the BIGGEST issue, isn't that she left. yah ok she's a kid and has to go with her parents. fine. BUT to completely blow off chloe and eventually SEVER ALL CONTACT with her former bff like amputating a rotting limb for no reason is just being an absolute shit of a human bean. combine that with max's little tape left for chloe on the day of her dad's funeral telling her about it along with max returning to arcadia bay only to take the class of that literal psychopath mr jefferson and not even tell chloe she was back until they meet by a freak chance then i'm pretty sure we can accurately assume that max is in fact the devil.
Do you guys think i should replay LiS 1 after completing BTS from 2 days ago. I feel like i could play them for ever i just dont know when should i stop. I dont plan doing any challenges, if im gonna replay it imma use my original choices but im also worried it will become boring after playing it all over again. Hell, im even thinking to replay BTS again lol. Man those games ruined me i need some serious help
idk. i've only played through each game once. i'll play through them again because i didn't like some of my decisions i made the first time (i wanna make it more canon), but i haven't decided the order. i was thinking farewell first, then BTS, then LiS. might be a little weird tho. or not, since i already know the story.
Yeah that order actually makes sense. Wish i did that order when i first time started playing. All i do right now is listen to LiS BTS music while i should be already sleeping. The more i listen the more i wanna replay it all

it might be nice now, but i don't think i'd feel the same about it if i played in that order for my first time. BTS and farewell were so heartbreaking because i already knew what chloe was about to experience in LiS. i kept thinking like "omg can this girl's life get any more miserable". and that final scene in BTS of rachel's phone in the dark room with all those missed calls from chloe was just so hard to watch. had i played it before LiS i wouldn't really know what that scene was about.
the songs I used to listen to from LiS all the time were Crosses by Jose Gonzalez and Mt. Washington by the Local Natives. There were more but I forgot their names. In BTS, I like Voices by Daughter and Through The Cellar Door by Lanterns On The Lake.
Also, I listen to the Arcadia Bay ost and the pause menu ost. Those are the songs for relaxation

Oh yeah school, now my feelings towards LiS will be ruined because of that, i will remember this summer from playing LiS. I'm gonna miss that. I was watching some news on LiS 2 and at first i thought i wouldn't like it but then after searching more information i kinda like it.
