What about the older Telltale Games. Are they worth playing? Sam and Max, Puzzle Agent etc

edited September 2018 in General Chat

I see most people here only talking about the ''big'' games from Telltale like, TWAU, WD, Tales etc.
But what about the older games? Back to the future, jurassic park, Sam and max, puzzle agent etc.
Are those worth playing? Are they any good, solid or just average?

  • The only ones I’ve played are puzzle agent 1 and Sam and Max, there both alright.

  • They're a bit different. Check out some sample gameplay videos if you're not sure. Sam & Max, though, are the reason why I'm here in the first place, so yeah, I think they're worthwhile. You can probably skip Jurassic Park, though.

  • Jurassic Park is god awful. Back to the Future is awesome, though.

  • Still better than ANF.

I persoanlly really enjoyed Back to the Future. If you can accept the outdated graphics, it's a great game with a good story in my opinion. It did crash a few times for me on Windows though, so hopefully you won't have any issues. I haven't played Jurassic Park or Sam and Max (yet).

  • Wallace & Gromit would be worth playing...

IF IT WERE STILL IN STORES

i played the first episode of bttf and it was pretty good as long as you like puzzle adventures, poker night is a short but fun ride as well

  • Yes! A million times yes. Sometimes with all the boom of the recent games, it feels like Telltale is trying to wipe themselves of their OG games. They're different, more based on puzzles than choices, but a lot of them are fantastic. A good gateway into them is Back to the Future, since it has a strong narrative and relatively easy puzzles. Then play Tales of Monkey Island (that one's my favorite Telltale game) because the puzzles are decently challenging and the narrative is really very good. A lot of people will recommend Sam and Max, and while it is good, DO NOT by any means have it be the first prewalking dead game you play. The puzzles are very difficult and there isn't much serialization. The Sam and Max games are really built for an audience that has been playing point and click adventures their entire lives. After you play some others, definitely go and play Sam and Max though.

  • Original.
