Does being spoiled about what happens in a game ruin that particular game for you?
Like the title of this thread if you saw a spoiler for a game that you plan on getting, does that take the enjoyment out or ruin interest for you? Personally Its a mix, it can take me out of the game a bit. Like in my recommendation I saw a major spoiler in the new Spider-Man Game that I didn't want to see until I played the game for myself. What about you? This could also work for movies as well.

yeah i agree it can be annoying as it is quite hard to avoid spoilers in games/movies before seeing it yourself
It's annoying but i try not to think about it when i play a game,or when i watch a tv show.
Well yeah of course. especially if it's an huge plot twist.
Depends on the spoiler. If its an huge plottwist, then yes
It might not ruin it for me, so long as it is good, but it does rob me of being able to have a blind experience, which you can only get once.
Ruin? That's probably a strong word. But it definitely dampens it.
Going in with nothing to expect is a great feeling. Recently, I've been watching less trailers for stuff now to minimize being spoiled, and I think it has increased my enjoyment of stuff.
Frankly, I wish after I saw a movie, I could write a review, and if it was really good (like Infinity War, for example), have my memory of that day wiped so I could watch it again not knowing what to expect. Surprise is a good thing and it makes you have more realistic reactions.
It depends how bad of a spoiler it is. One thing that I hated was the garbage youtubers who just upload Telltale games without even commentating, and just spoil it. Spoilers for Batman S2, but one of these youtubers thumbnail was just a dead joker from the scene where he dies for like 10 seconds. And I got spoiled because of that, made me think Joker would die in episode 5. Worst part was it was just a screen shot. Not edited in anyway, no text going "Batman S2 all choices" nothing, just dead Joker.
I normally try to avoid any spoilers if possible but i will watch a trailer or look at screenshots if they are available.
Mm...I suppose it can? Depends on how invested I am in the story and thus how much I want to take in personally. Though I suppose it's also true that I don't mind some spoilers if it's A. general enough for me to just judge when I get to it if it's just worthy enough, or B. something I have little interest or familiarity with anyway.
To give something of a non-example, I'm trying to experience TFS as it comes out to hopefully get some positivity at it's purest, plus to try and be fair.
For me? Absolutely. The main reason I play a game or watch a movie is to see where the story goes, and not knowing what happens is 90% of the excitement for me. I know some people don't really care, but I like the mystery of experiencing something for the first time so much that I never replay a game/watch a movie since I know what's going to happen
Kind of depends. Because of youtube recommendations, I was spoiled in Spider-Man PS4 about the characters that weren't mentioned by Insomniac or seen before the release of the game. But I don't think it's enough for me to be less hyped for the game because I don't know the whole story, it's a standalone Spider-Man story, not based on any comics or movies. All I know is that they're going to be familiar faces and I'm talking about the villains. I think I was spoiled who the villain was at the end of E3 gameplay trailer.
not if I don't care too much about the game (or movie, series) but I would get extremely upset if it's something I was excited for.
It ruins my experience and immersion in a game yes but I keep playing it trying to make sense of what I just witnessed and twisting it into thinking that it leads to something I won't do or fake...makes sense?
Kinda with @DabigRG on this one. If it's a game I'm really looking forward to or a series I'm invested in, it's gonna dampen the experience. I got spoiled on Spiderman, I'm not really a fan of the character or Marvel, it didn't really affect my experience the same way spoiling Akrham City would have. Some games I play just because they're fun and really well done, some I play strictly for the story. Sometimes they manage to be both, and really draw me into them.
