Now after the romance scenes with Violet/Louis, it's even less likely. Why give us an option to romance James when most of us have already romanced Violet/Louis?

I suppose you have a point there, given that the remaining 2 episodes will almost certainly move away from the cutesy teen drama. At the end of Suffer theChildren we can safely assume that the shit will keep hitting the fan until clem dies.
Episode 3 has an achievement referencing james as a whisperer so we might see him joining our group. From there on, even if a romance option won’t occur, I still see a close friendship forging determinantly.
At the end of episode 2 you can remain neutral and not get romantically involved with Violet or Louis so that could theoretically be saved for James, but may not be available if you already partnered with one of them in Suffer.
