Windows Vista Taskbar Woes

I was introduced to RocketDock by another thread in this forum, and the thing has quickly replaced my taskbar and desktop. It has my folders, most commonly opened programs, a clock, a battery indicator, a button to open the Windows Start menu(which I have a key for on the keyboard anyway) and volume control.

I see no reason to use the Windows taskbar anymore, but the damn thing is clingier than an insane ex.

I mouse over where I told it to go away, it's there. I start up my computer, it's there. I run various programs, half of which leave the Start orb lingering around, like some sort of severed limb.

I want the Windows Taskbar out of my life. Hidden away so that it only shows up if I press the Windows key, you know, if I ever feel like stringing it along for a one-night stand. Any suggestions?

    This is probably a really stupid suggestion, but it was the setup I had when I was using RocketDock (got no use for it anymore with the way the Win7 taskbar works): I simply set the taskbar to auto-hide, not on top and moved it to the left of the screen. It then won't appear in front of other windows unless you press the Windows key.

    Yeah, right click your taskbar and go to properties, then check auto-hide and uncheck keep on top of other windows.
