Which episode should I get for free?

edited September 2009 in General Chat
Apart from Monkey Island, I only have the free episode of Sam and Max (Abe Lincoln Must Die) and got a free episode of Wallace and Gromit (Last Resort) by using the coupon that came with preordering ToMI.

I eventually want to get the complete seasons of Sam and Max 1 & 2 and Wallace and Gromit. I haven't yet used my 50% Season code from treasure hunting, and I have an upgrade option for Wallace and Gromit to get the rest of the episodes for $19.95.

Which S&M or W&G season should I get a free episode from to save the most money?

Sam & Max will always have a soft spot in my heart, but you could also try Homestar, since that's the other main series you don't have. That way you will have a sample of each.

I'd second Homestar since apart from TOMI it's my favourite TTG series, you can then get the upgrade price on the season. That said I did enjoy Bone a lot too, it's far more linear than the other TTG but very atmospheric.

Cool thanks for the input! And I'm not really sure how the upgrade prices work--do they give you a lower upgrade price after each episode you download, or is it only after you have ONE episode from that season?

I think it's only one price for the upgrade, provided you own one episode. So you'd pay the same for the upgrade whether you had one or two or three episodes already.

Hmm... I've already gotten two free episodes of Sam & Max Season 2 (I didn't buy the season because I played it on GameTap). If I keep collecting free episodes over time until I have them all, will I be eligible for the DVD? :D

You will. Contact support and they enable you to get the DVD if you made it.

Hello guys, new here. I already have Tales. I have read that you can get a free episode of choice if you already have monkey island. How do i do this I am majorly confused.

Go here whilst logged in , and you'll see a free episode coupon instead of a TOMI one.

All i get is the monkey island one. I'm guessing it's because I bought the game on steam. Oh well.

Yup, I don't think TTG have any control over bonuses for customers using Steam. But you do get an additional copy of Screaming Narwhal for a friend! And it is Christmas coming up!!

I admit that I never liked Wallace & Gromit. The cartoons seemed boring as I watched them as a kid.

I thought that I should give it a try, and used my free game thingie to download Wallace & Gromit first episode. It's incredible. The atmosphere, the characters, everything!

My brother doesn't like playing adventure games, he likes to watch but he's not patient enough to play them. When I started playing W&G he was so amazed of the graphics and the simple yet beautiful environments, he instantly pushed me off the chair and played the game for two hours straight. The ONLY adventure games he ever played and liked so much were ToMI Epsiodes 1 and 2. He finished them in one day. That is really...in almost 24 hours summed up, over the course of three days.

I'm seriously thinking of gathering some money and buying all the TellTale games.

What is Bone all about? Do I need to know the characters in advance?

I think the games are a great way to get to know these characters.

if you have NO sam and max's snag like reality 2.0 or something,
the first few in season 1 are a bit .. drool but they are required in knowing the rest.. well not REQUIRED.. but it makes it more funny to know who people are etc..

id say skip wallace and grom, a few episodes were so short, they shoulda put 2 into one.. not sure what happened there..

bone is a bit more.. childish in nature, less going on, mini games are poor at best..
love the comic hated the game..
the demo for part one rocked * get it? rocked... for those that played the demo.. it starts you off near tons of rocks.. sighhh

    i know very dry

I actually used my coupon to get the first Bone game. The reason being, it interested me and I wanted to try it (after seeing trailers, the official Bone website, and bits of the comics), but had heard some negative feedback from it. I'll see how I get on with it, and might use my other coupon (from pre-ordering TOMI) to get the second Bone game.

I am thinking of getting the Strong Bad games at some point, and maybe the Wallace and Gromit ones (I already have all the Sam and Max games) but if I do then I think I'll buy the DVD versions straight away.

If you're particularly interested in a whole series of something, but aren't too bothered about getting the DVD version, then I think it's good to spend a coupon on a single episode. Because then you'll be able to get the rest of the season for cheaper using an upgrade.
