    Mark is a good example and I see what you mean @Ghetsis , but I think Mark was sympathetic mostly because of his especially horrific fate. If he would've just died by a simple walker bite or by one of those redneck hunters' arrows or bullets, I doubt he would've made such an impact.

    Maybe "quality" of death can make the difference between shrugging one's shoulders and giving a shit.
