Best Ship?

edited September 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
In all five Monkey Island games, Guybrush has had 5 different and very cool ships! Which one is your favourite?

I say the Sea Cucumber be a fine seaworthy ship, fit for any good respectable captain, arrrrr!

Sea Monkey - although that might only be because there's a whole chapter to spend exploring it. I love that ship <3

I personally like the Screaming Narwhal the best! It may look like it was built by drunk people but it's got character, y'know? I hope the ship survives being swallowed by the manatee and makes it out again, I really do!

The Sea Cucumber seems to be the most powerful ship in the game.

The Sea Cucumber, It had Big Guns (eventually).

    "But.. it's pink!"
    EMI had it's moments.

A lot of EMI was hilarious, this particular part being a prime example!

I always wanted a house boat. So Captain Dread's Jolly Rasta gets my vote.

I always liked the chapter where you got to explore the Sea Monkey in SOMI.
There aren't many pirate games that use ships as a means of anything, other than sailing around.

Besides that, the Screaming Narwhal seems pretty cool and I thought the ship design from the MI Movie would've been good too. ;)

I fully agree! I loved exploring that ship, and the journal gave it a great back story to boot!

For a guy with not much money, Guybrush sure gets around ship wise! He's had 5 ships! Most of which he didn't pay for!

The Sea Cucumber was my favorite looks wise, but The Screaming Narwhal is def. up there name wise. The Dainty Lady was good for laughs.

The Sea Monkey. There's the most to do on that one.

I can't help but feel that people are voting for their favourite game in this poll & not really thinking about it.

PS. Where is LeChucks ghost ship on the poll. That was probably my second favourite. Stuff to do on that one too.

I really, really did not like EMI, but the Dainty Lady was nice :)

This is a vote for GUYBRUSH'S best ship, not THE best ship in the whole of MI.

Captain Dread's ship shouldn't be an option either then.

...you win this round... hehe, yeah I was sorta thinking that when I started the poll. But Guybrush uses this boat a helluva lot in Lechuck's Revenge that it would be unfair not to include it.

Well, I LOVE the Sea Monkey for what happens there in SoMI (probably my most favorite SoMI-part), but also have found the Dainty Lady quite funny... with all that pinkness and tough talk and whatnot. But. I vote Sea Monkey and SoMI, it has put more impact on me. After all, how often can you freely explore your ship? Not really often, yeah.

I have no attachment to the Sea Monkey, really, despite spending a whole chapter there. That doesn't mean much for its character, especially considering the richness of the rest of the game's settings.

Actually, none of the ships have character until the Dainty Lady, I must admit. The Dainty Lady and the Screaming Narwhal stand out fairly well as ships. Escape's ship wins by means of being hilarious.

Voted for the Dainty Lady because of the attitude.

The Sea Monkey is appealing because of it's history as Herman's old ship and the ability to explore it. I'm warming up to the Screaming Narwhal. I hope the Captain's cabin is open next episode.

I like most of them... Exploring the Sea Monkey was one of my favourite parts of MI ever (even though I got stuck for five years at one point
opening the cereal box?? why didn't I think of that?
    )

The sea battles on the Cucumber were also awesome fun.

I like the Narwhal's character, and part one of Spinner Cay onboard the Narwhal was amazingly well done. I'd like there to be a bit more to explore on it in future chapters though.

Ultimate favourite, currently probably the Sea Monkey. Even though it didn't have an elevator made of burgundy casks, and those porthole defoggers were a total ripoff.

Yes, I'd love to actually go into the ship's quarters instead of hearing "I'll sleep when I'm dead... or later tonight". But don't get me wrong, that's a classic line!

It was an awesome ship - whatever happened to it?

One of things making EMI worth playing is... The Dainty Lady! My vote on her - for her attitude and for her colour!

In TOMI it would be nice if there were more places to go on the boat, like indoors and below deck, i mean monkey island is wacky right, gief more of that wacky stuff that is waaay bigger on the inside that outside, like this huge complex interior for the screaming narwal :D

I agree! Like three decks or something, haha!

Oh my, that really is a tough decision... I'm torn between the Sea Monkey and the Sea Cucumber, which both have awesome monkey stories to tell. ;) But the Screaming Narwhal, like many of you said, has a lot of character.

I'll have to sleep over this before I place my vote, I guess.

I too was torn between the Sea Monkey and Sea Cucumber, voted Sea Cucumber because it becomes a pretty bad ass ship by the end of Act 3, plus size wise it looks the biggest of the two and looked pretty awesome in the background during Insult Sword Fighting.

My thoughts exactly... point for point.

Wait 'til the end of Tales, then make your decision...

I gotta go with the Sea Monkey. It was huge and was fun to explore as your own ship. It was in bad shape, but it was so interesting and mysterious.
  • edited September 2009
Voted for the Narwhal, I think it fits Guybrush to a T! come'on use bowling pin with Ship Wheel? it looks like something Guybrush would've made to get off the Island if he had been there for 10 years! Although it was really close because the Dainty Lady was such a looker, and boy! did she have a mouth on her.

The first 3 ships were pretty ordinary, but I expect the Narhwal will become the best ship in time, as it gets updated each episode.
