Subtitles and music request

edited September 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
I actually have a couple of requests. One's realistic, I suppose, the other a little less.

1. I wish you guys would fix the subtitles. (I searched for another thread that had this as its main issue, and I couldn't find it.) I was playing Spinner Cay this afternoon and, as much as I enjoyed it (which, let me tell you, was a whole lot), I did get annoyed at how many spelling mistakes the subtitles had (or how times they said "Your" instead of "You're"). Maybe for the DVD release, at least. It's not something that I should even be mentioning, really.

2. This is way more difficult, and I completely understand why it might never, ever happen (I'm blaming it mostly on the Wii), but it'd be great to have a live instrument version of the Monkey theme in episode five, or anywhere towards the end. At least in a director's cut of the game, akin to Bone. I'm not going to hold it against you if you don't do it, but it'd be a nice gesture.

Anyways, yeah. Something of a useless thread, but these two things have been bugging me for a bit.*

TTG might release a soundtrack CD after the tales are finished.

Concerning the subtitles, I agree, and may i add : please make them BIGGER! I rely heavily on subtitles because English isn't my native language and it's thus easier to understand what's going on, but sometimes they are far too small (especially for the Wii)
But I'm not going to complain,as it is already good enough that subtitles are present in the game.

Which would be brilliant, as I routinely go over the credit sequences to listen to some of my favourite tracks; but I would really like a live instrument version of the main theme. I like the synthesized version (and I think they had to go for that because of the Wii), but there's just no comparison with live instrument.

Why would you blame the Wii for that?

    Wii has serious issues man.

Wii's the only current generation console without HD support or any amount of reasonable space. It makes life a little difficult for people like Telltale. Look at Wallace and Gromit, which came out on XBLA and not Wii, and you see what I mean.

Yeah, Wallace and Gromit is Telltale's most ambitious game visually, and it looks amazing.

I still think it would've been a far better choice to launch it on PC only (or PC and XBLA), and after the season was over release a disc based Wii version, but I'm sure someone at the top of the food chain said "NO IT MUST COME OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY!!!!" followed by ominous laughter.

It'd make more business sense to release it on Wiiware alongside the PC version. As (admittedly loose) evidence, consider that Sam and Max Season Two wasn't even released on retail for the Wii.

If you look over the games you can see some compromises they did for the Wii (including, I think, the re-use of character models), which is hopefully something that'll disappear over time when Nintendo transitions out of the 20th Century.

I mean, ideally they'd go all-out for PC and if they wanted to go to the Wii do a specific version for that, but I can't see it making much business sense. I know that a lot more people would be legitimate customers if games were simulatenosuly released worldwide and not, say, after 9 months in the UK than in the US (and Steam is great evidence of that). As it stands now, Telltale are just going to make games this way until Nintendo deal with it (which they should, and soon).

Although I don´t like the Wii I must say having one track of orchestrated music would not be a problem for it either. The FlashROM is 512 MB, one track would never waste so much space it would be an issue.

Season Two is still in the works for the Wii, it hasn't come out yet on XBLA either.

The consoles are overtaking publisher/delvelopers decisions...... Take Alan Wake, they dropped the PC version to focus on the XBox version...... I'm gutted, I waited 4 years for it, and now it has been shelved

Haha, we are on opposite positions here; for me the PC was never a suitable machine for playing games, and if a game is available on a console I´d pick that version any day. Sonstant fiddling with options, software-problems, often complicated keyboard controls, having to sit at a desk instead of really being sucked up in the atmosphere on the couch just like when watching a movie....
Damn, I love the trend of decline in PC gaming.^^

Ever since I bought an Xbox 360 a week ago it's shifted my paradigm and become my new gaming platform. Except for games that are exclusive the PC. Or games that I want to own all versions in existence of. Like TTG games. Or adventures in general. I have a bad collecting problem.

    I have the same problem.

I can´t get used to the thought of downloaded games being collectibles personally. The main reason I decided to buy ToMI (my first Telltale Game) is really because I get a physical copy in the end.

I guess that in the future I will have to change that to some degree, since digital distribution is one way many, especially small comapnies will start selling their games exclusively. :(
