Did anybody feel a spiritual connection with the Wind chime and the walkers ?

I don’t know why I felt like this but anybody feel a spiritual connection with the wind chime in the walkers I mean for some reason weird reason the walkers were at peace when Clementine touched the wind chime?

I don’t know why I felt like that but it was beautiful scene in Broken Toys.

What do you guys think?

  • Nope, they are dead people and the whole "walkers being at peace" is bullshit. They are just attracted by sound, big news.

That James theory about walkers made absolutely no sense. Walkers aren't people, they're just monsters like AJ would say. Just because you manage to trick them into not being able to realize that you're something they should dig the guts out of, doesn't mean there are people inside them lol.

Clem already did the same thing, just with guts instead of the mask, with Lee when she was just 9. If she was intelligent enough back then to realize that disguising yourself doesn't make walkers "people", she can very well understand that James is talking bs.

  • There's no link to their former selves, it's just an another way to get their attention.

  • I think they did the scene well and made it seem very peaceful, especially after how nervous you could tell Clementine was being in there. I told James that I could see his point and then AJ asked if I meant what I told him and I told AJ it was bull. I didn't want him thinking of walkers as people.

My nipples did go extra hard when I heard the sound of the wind chime tbf.

In all seriousness I see where James is coming from. The expression in their faces and the look in their milky eyes was something far different than what we normally see in walkers. I’m not sure if he’s right. Maybe we’ll know one day.

  • Are you alright?

  • I was more afraid of getting bit quite honestly. Sure on their own it did seem quite..semi different but otherwise at the end of the day there ain't no innocence in what's trying to eat your guts out.

  • It was...a fascinating scene. Like, the walkers are monsters, but...I imagine a young person like Clementine might have her beliefs shaken just a bit. I thought it was very interesting when this one walker was coming towards Clem but another like hit it on the back and stopped it. The whole scene was oddly emotional.

  • I didnt really like it. It felt like the writers were trying to make some weird "omg i now question the walkers existence" type of thing when it really just came off as:

    ᶜʳᶦᶰᵍᵉ

  • I honestly have to side-eye anyone who bought into James' bullshit.

  • I really hope the writers made this scene purely to make James look like a mental patient and not because they wanted to mirror Mass Effect's "Does this unit have a soul?".

James is fucked in the head,no doubt about that, this is what happens when you spend pretty much your whole life with a fucked up group like the whisperers lol,but i liked the music in that scene.

  • I still don't understand why they don't attack james. Isn't it the smell that causes them to want to attack. I mean Clem have to wear their guts just to sneak pass them. But all james have to do is wear a mask. Something don't add up. Also James is cray cray. The walkers were just attracted to the noise of the wind chime. You can get the same outcome with a rock.

The music is actually the only thing that sells the scene. Imagine the scene without it.

  • Nah. The scene was made for James' character and how he sees the walkers after living with them for years. Those walkers did act really odd, though.

  • no not a bit but i had to lie to get his help and told aj it was a lie i hope this does not bit me back cause my james made it out alive of this episode

  • It was a pretty awesome scene to experience but a shit theory to believe.

  • James thinking walkers are harmless is crazy I mean sure great too expirnce new things but that what James saying walkers have a little bit of humanity is complete Ludacris .

  • Weird scene lmao, James is crazy

  • The way people flip off James for his theory is kinda baffling to me. He isn't saying that walkers are harmless or that they're people. He thinks that there's got to be more to them than just being these walking husks. You can disagree with him - like i do - but calling him crazy for thinking there's more to them than that even though he's spent much more time around them is ... disappointingly narrow minded, to put it harshly.

I think it's really interesting that the game asks this question the way it did. It leaves a lot of room for interpretation with the way the walkers themselves acted in that barn. You can obviously just say that they're still monsters and nothing else, but our guess of what's going on with the walkers really is just as good as his since there is no factual baseline of anything.

Though i have to admit that he not wanting walkers to die for the safety of humans is kind of ... craz-- uhm weird.

How do you think he even made that mask? Arts and crafts? Nah, he ripped the face off a zombie. That's likely all the justification the universe needs to not have the walkers notice him. That mask almost definitely reeks of death. He also wears gloves that look like their also formerly owned, so all his exposed skin is covered by reused walker parts, and his calmness leads to him not panicking, and walking like a walker limits his energy use, so he's probably not much of a sweater.

  • The second James started to spin this shit on me I knew that something traumatic must've happened to him and the only way for him to deal with it was to consider there is "more" to the walkers, and lo and behold his backstory happens. Hell, he's only atoning for what he did and I'm sure that, in his head, it came to either this or taking the train straight to Depression Land for blowing a defenseles kid's brains out. And I have no issue with him living his life in any way he wants (even if it's one huge lie), but after he pretty much forces you into that barn and asks you if your opinion has changed in any way I was quick to say hell no dude lol.

  • Not only that but he tries to twist AJ's little mind and plants seeds in his head. I'm surprised more people haven't caught that. James is manipulating AJ right in front of Clem.

The way James becomes protective of AJ in the last third of the episode is creepy as hell.

I'm starting to believe the theory that James is going to try and take Aj away from you if you killed Lily.

  • To people who say walkers are people: play the scene without any music. The music is pretty much the only reason you'd think otherwise

  • WALKER LIVES MATTER

  • I’m guessing I’m one of the few who not only told James I agreed with him but then also told AJ that I was serious about agreeing with James.

  • No, I got creeped out, James was talking real crazy. I don't really like him anymore because of that, lol.

Tfw the majority of the forums thinks that it’s the norm in the walking dead universe for the dead to come back, but push away the idea that there’s more to them. Honestly though, we only see them get up and eat ppl, we have no idea, like at all, how they work, so it’s not stupid to say they are still people, but we still need to consider the possibilities as this is a whole new gateway, that Robert Kirkman would have allowed to be presented to us

  • Because of casuals, I really do think that the writers should have written James differently. I'll take back the statement if the reason they're doing this is because they have something crazy planned for him and he turns out to be 'bad' let's say he wants to take AJ idk. Otherwise, they should've made James Collect for firepower and that's the reason he doesn't kill walkers.

  • I felt it, but I rejected it.

Because walkers in TWD aren't actually the focal point of the series. They're window dressing, they're background noise, they're backdrops to the plot.

The importance of TWD has always been about the survivors and their relations to humanity. Walkers are just props to serve tension every now and then. It's never been about the walkers. And Kirkman's never pretended otherwise. TWD is a soap opera.

  • I mean this episode definitely feels like a set-up for James to do a heel turn.

There's small little hints like James being critical of Clementine's parenting and being overly concerned with AJ's wellbeing for no constructive reason.

  • Lovely scene, but I don't agree with the message.

  • This was so dumb and sorta uplifting at the same time.

  • I'm just glad there isn't such a thing as smell-o-vision.
If we could have smelled the inside of the barn, or the inside of James' mask for that matter, that scene would have lost all it's appeal.

  • Spiritual? Okay, maybe so. But using windchimes for spiritual connection is pretty racist.
