Telltale Dev back in August during the release of Episode 1"We have a heck of an ending...!"

Telltale dev Brodie in a interview back in August:

"When we wrote the season, we started with the ending"

"we have a heck of an ending and everything is building up to that..."

"You're gonna really start to see things pick up in episodes 2 and 3..."

"And really reach a HARROWING, gut-wrenching FINALE ".

I remember watching this back then and thinking how much foreshadowing that finale line was and noted how committed Telltale were to Clementine's ending being so absolute. Writing a story from the ending first and going backwards means you know exactly how a particular story is supposed to be written. This is very opposed to S2 and S3 where it was very clear the endings were a last-minute test quiz session and not a holistic narrative endeavor. It means for TFS they didn't make anything up as they went along.

  • We'll have to wait and see....this particular episode for the first time in twdg history we have no idea what's the plot for final episode....it can go either way.

  • Gonna have to wait and see on that, everyone is obviously going to say the ending is fantastic, no one is going to go "Yeah we started with the ending but it kinda sucks tho"

Episode 3 doesnt leave off on a good note for a great finale in my opinion. Ship went boom. Thats where we are.
