EDIT: Thought you were talking about the game seasons. It's the same type of humour as the games. Sam & Max don't compromise.

It's hard to say. I think it feels toned down, but there's really not much to tone down....it's all fairly childish humor. Mostly my issues stem from the inclusion of The Geek, a genius kid that I'm guessing was included to create a character that kids can connect to.

Aye, if you ask me it's certainly not as edgy and the voice acting's not quite up to scratch sometimes, but it's still enjoyable by all means :)

The Geek was included so that the show had a female character. If she hadn't been there, the powers-that-be could have forced Max to be a girl.

    No, I'm not joking.

The series itself was toned down from the original comic, but only to remove the nasty ol' killing and stuff. The whole thing is otherwise pretty faithful, and if you can track it down, you'll find it's very similar to Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space, if somewhat faster paced.

I'd like to watch it, but I haven't seen any downloads for it, and it's not on any streaming websites like youtube or anything.

I vaguely remember watching it as a kid though.

Sweet, I'll have to watch it sometime.

Wikipedia said something about it being free to watch on some website called Gametap, but I couldn't find it.

Wikipedia needs updated. Gametap hasn't hosted those episodes in quite a while.

Gametap also hasn't hosted the exclusive episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast they produced either, and I can't find them anywhere on the internet :(

What is GameTap anyway? Is it some sort of steam type thing? I've honestly never heard of it, it's just in the SandM openings.

Also what's videoelectrix? That was in SB.

GameTap is kind of like Steam except for classic games.

Videlectrix is the video game "company" name for all the games that The Brothers Chaps create at www.homestarrunner.com.

I think you're thinking of GoG. GameTap is a paid service that hosts many games, old and new. And instead of buying the games, you pay for a membership, and that gives you free reign to play as you please.

Unfortunately, their quality has gone down the drain since they started doing everything via browser. So... many... glitches... :(

Not to mention half the content and twice the difficulty in downloading and organizing your games. I cancelled my membership a while back and won't be returning unless they go back to the client.

The Sam & Max cartoon is good, but it's also the weakest thing to have the name attached to it (Comics>Hit the Road>Telltale games>Cartoon)

If you like Sam and Max well it's Sam and Max as a cartoon, it might not be the greatest thing ever but it doesn't really bastardize anything.

I like Sam and Max, and I kinda liked the cartoon. But The Geek annoyed the heck out of me. The first episode is like the Poochy episode of Itchy and Scratchy - "Hey look Max, it's our new friend, the Geek!" You could almost smell the desperation as the writers tried to crowbar her into established S&M lore.

No, I wasn't confusing them. I did say "kind of." I knew it did new games as well, but initially it was older games when it first started. From what I remember, anyway. Either way my description was misleading :).

I love the Sam & Max games and I enjoy the comic, but to me the cartoon is mostly boring and unfunny. Admittedly, there were some episodes that made me laugh out loud (such as Bad Day On The Moon which was almost exactly the same as the original comic story), but those were few and far between. The rest had me falling asleep.

Also, I can't really buy Sam being voiced by King Koopa from the Super Mario Bros show. It just doesn't work as much as the more laid-back voices he has in the games.

    Hah. Mom's not here.
Also, sam and max is a good show. They did tone it down a little, but since it was when Cartoons were good and not highly censord, it is still good.

Sam and Max are funny no matter if it's a kids show or not! Sam and Max are funny enough what with their actions and witty comments, and if seen on t.v, video games, cartoons, OR movies (hopefully). So they are funny no matter what! LIVE ON, SAM AND MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

I think I love the cartoon series more now than when I was a kid. I was about 9 or 10 when I watched it as a kid, and am 21 now. :P

Admittedly, I still like a lot of cartoons I enjoyed as a kid, but even so Sam & Max is one of the few that I actually appreciate more now that I'm older. Obviously, as it used to be shown on a kids' channel they had to make sure that there was nothing too mature in the cartoon's content. But there's still a fair amount of crudeness and whatnot you can get away with in kids' shows - especially in the late '90s - and I think they do a great job keeping the cartoon faithful to the comics.

Toned down? Other than the lack of guns and some innuendos, it's kinda basically the same. The Geek, however, was kind of unnecessary in my opinion. Seriously, we really didn't need her at all and most of the time she's on screen, I groan. Heh, I guess it is like what Alf Fly said, the Geek IS Poochy!

"Uh, hi, Mr. Purcell. I've been doing some thinking, and I've got some ideas to improve the show. I got it right here. (pulls out a piece of paper) One, Sam and Max need to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever The Geek's not onscreen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's The Geek"?
