Help! I was able to play thru to where Guybrush runs LeChuck thru with the sword and the ship blows up, but the game stopped when Guybrush was floating in the ocean. Now the game will not start.

The game won't start at all anymore? Could you try uninstalling it and redownloading it?

Set your display color depth to 32 bit, if it isn't.

I will try uninstall and re-download.

I did the uninstall and redownlod, but I get the same error. The error occurs just after the display of "Deep in the Caribean".

Where do I set the color depth? I'm pretty much a novice at things like that.

Try if it works while you are disconnected from the internet.

Okay, then we have to take a deeper look.

But first Please check your ToMI installers for errors.
Tales of Monkey Island MD5 Check
    Please download and install Hashcheck.
Then Download this MD5 File into the folder that contains the ToMI installers you downloaded from Telltale.

Finally just double click on the .md5 file for verification and tell us the results.
    Green: File is okay.
    Yellow: File is missing.
    Read: File is corrupt.

Sorry, but I'm not paying for the MD5 file software.

It's free, but if you don't want to check it we can skip it. Would just be a more systematic approach.

Ah i see, filedropper deleted the MD5 file :( it's back up for download now.

I don't see a .md5 file extension. It shows as .html

Okay both files are green and match.

You have to follow the link, click on download, and answer the captcha.

I really need to find a simple but reliable instant file hosting service :( There are so many out there and i always pick the wrong ones.

    That's good :)

Next step. Let's make sure no other software interferes with the game.

    Msconfig for Windows Vista:
To Boot Clean in Windows Vista

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG --> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    7. Click on OK
    8. Click Restart.
    9. After reboot, run game to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG--> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

    Based on Will's post

Okay! Doing the reboot with the selective start-up and hiding MS services worked.
Does that mean when I want to play the game, I have to do this each time?

No, that means that some software you usually run in the background makes the game crash. If you find out which one you can solve that.

Try disabling your security software such as firewalls and antivirus software. If that helps maybe updating it could solve the problem.
