Tim, Ron & Dave going back to Lucasarts?

Has anyone else seen this? Especially interesting from 2min 20sec in.

This episode has been out a while so I'd be surprised if I was the only person here that's seen it, but I haven't seen anyone mention it yet.

Are the original trio being re-united by Lucasarts for some big budget, in-house, adventure game, goodness?

    Or, it's just over-analyzing?

I really dont see this scenario in the future.
Tim Schafer is the president of Double Fine, Dave Grossman has Telltale Games and Ron Gilbert is involved in Hothead.

Just recently i stumpled opon a G4 special feature showing Double Fine and how happy Schafer is with his company. I think its quite the same situation with Mr. Grossman.
But as Gilbert is "only" employed, I could see him finishing Deathspank and finally woking with LucasArts again.

Does that even make sense in any way? I dont know :D

I'm just glad that LucasArts finally considering going back to its roots. I miss Dark Forces/Jedi Knight :(

Dave Grossman is "only" employed as well.

Why do you care what happens at LucasArts? What made LucasArts so great were the people who worked there; and now they're gone, and the new people there are trying to do their own thing.

I'm happy with the way things are right now. If Jonathan Ackley somehow got back into the industry, and Autumn Moon's future was a bit more stable, I'd be perfectly satisfied.

I'm pretty happy too. There are to many people involved with LucasArts.

Would love to see Ron Gilbert doing another Monkey Island game with Telltale.
Full length, with crazy puzzles and a more piratey atmosphere.

If LucasArts want a full-budget MI game made with what they can get of the original team and TT aren't interested in anything not low-budget & episodic, I'd really like to see those big 3 return to LucasArts as a one-off to make it. Who knows? They might even do it, if Ron gets invited back and LA say it's the only chance he'll get of making another MI. He could persuade the rest, I'm sure.

Lucasarts is dead man. I mean they've made what, Star Wars since those guys left?

TellTale Games is fucking awesome, Doublefine has only made kickass games and Hothead... will probably release something awesome soon, Deathspank will be allright.

But lucasarts is the past. Brutal Legend/TOMI IS THE FUTURE!

Instead of going back to Lucas Arts, i think the best bet to get them togther would be for them to come to Telltale or work with Telltale.

I mean if they worked togther, maybe just maybe they would be able to match the quality of games like Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango :)

Dude, Brutal Legend is better than Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango.

    It's freaking awesome.

Tim should stay where he is.

Ron's the one I'm most worried about. I mean, Schafer and Grossman have released awesome games since leaving Lucasarts, but apart from Spy Fox like 8 years ago (and that was meh at best), Ron's done nothing.

    DOUBLE FINE!

While I like Brutal Legend, that statement is just so factually wrong it should be bannable :P. Brutal Legend is an 8/10 game, thanks to the Tim Schafer trademark, otherwise it wouldn't deserve more than a 7. Both DOTT and Grim, however, are straight 10s.
