One can only pray! But I doubt it... D:

It's anyone's guess, really. Only Telltale know for sure and they aren't likely to spill the beans on a simple thread like this.

    I hope not.

    Very doubtful indeed.

I want to return there to destroy LeChuck's Church. It ruins the environment.

Hmm... well, considering this IS "Tales of Monkey Island", I don't see that it's too far-fetched. Will Guybrush finally learn the eponymous Secret TM? Does LeChuck rediscover his evil ways whilst innocently returning a three-headed monkey to that sacred isle?

I think it is far fetched in as much as TTG have intimated that the tiltle essentially means Tales [from the world of] Monkey Island rather than the island itself.

Monkey Island wasn't in MI2 either.

    Whats monkey island? :p

    Well, technically it was because
you end the game in the Carnival of the Damned
    . That's retcon for ya ;)

    Or DO you....?

    Nobody knows for sure...

I agree with serializer. I don't think we can totally count out the idea of going back to Monkey Island. If you go by the CMI canon then Monkey Island has appeared in every game thus far.

I'm not saying we are going to Monkey Island I'm just saying it can't be totally counted out 100%.

I just can't see how the story could do to warrant going to Monkey Island and I'm sure TTG have almost as good as said we won't be. In the private pirate forums somehwere I think.

"Almost as good as" != "Certainty" :P

The more I think about it, the more I think it'll be a big surprise if MI doesn't rear it's giant monkey head at some point. Especially since it's the first MI game in a long time and there are a lot of brand new fans who have never even SEEN a three-headed monkey...

The Giant Monkey and the Three Head Monkies are CLASSIC, We must have them.

    Jake:
It's definitely tales in the world of Monkey Island, not tales of the island itself (though that would be cool!). For me it's about trying to bring out all of the different swirling stories the series' characters have found themselves in, and see what happens when their lives and goals collide in new and interesting ways, against a pastiche of classic pirate and sea-type stories. Tales all 'round! I don't know how other people on the team see it, but as a fan of the legacy of Monkey Island and of good pirate stories in general, that's what interests me!

I'm sure there was something more specific but as yet I can't find it.

Unluckily, the Giant Monkey Head was destroyed when the $%&*%& Giant Monkey Robot appeared.

You've just given me hope that we may in fact, see Monkey Island. Curse you! Now I'll be sorely dissapointed if we don't! :p

I want to go back to Monkey Island. But at the same time...

    No giant monkey head.
    No hermit.
A parked giant monkey robot that the monkeys used to get back to their island.

    Yes, of course.

Yeah That was kinda pushing it. The writers were going for COOL and were not worrying about screwing storyline up. The one gripe I have about Escape was that they tore the storyline to ribbons. Good thing Telltale has picked it up, now a talented group can patch Lucasarts horrible mess.

It another reason why Monkey Island won't be in Tales, TTG will just want to avoid the controversy of creating or fixing continuity issues.

im not too fussed about going to the island. dont get me wrong i would love to go there but im fine without it for the moment. i deffo wanna see it again in future MI games tho ( that is if they make them. fingers crossed! x ) its always good to see old islands again. all the things that ahve changed ect and the stuff that has kept the same. but i also like seeing new scenes. scabb island is a must return for me tho lol gotta love that darkness

I doubt it its mystical powers all left it when the monkey robot jumped out DeSinge was right when he called it a worthless rock with a volcano

I don't know, that doesn't really shoot down the total possibility of returning to Monkey Island. I still think the prospect of going to Monkey Island is possible, but doubtful.
  • edited October 2009
    Well ANYTHING is possible.

It wont happen. Not in this season.

You're probably right. We'll leave it at that.

    I was thinking...

If Guybrush would be executed, would he go to heck, and thus, below Monkey Island?

ow THAT would be hilarious! I can imagine him showing up there, I think you may have nailed it.
"I had a feeling that in hell, there would be Mushrooms"

Would any of LeChuck's old crew still be down there? I wonder...

That would be rather cool! And probably the best way they could possibly introduce Monkey Island if it is actually going to appear in this game :)

I hope we do get back to Monkey Island, it would be the natural closure of the series.

    Mike Stemmle co-designed Escape.

    Mike Stemmle is co-designing Tales.

Not surprising we don't hear much from him on the forum considering how much stick his previous work gets.

    Grossly unfair IMO.
