Dexter
I just realized that we don't have a thread dedicated to America's favorite serial killer. With the current season making up for... well... whatever last season was attempting to do, it seems like the perfect time to start a thread.
So... what's the consensus? Some are saying that Dexter's becoming too cuddly and happy to be interesting, and others are saying that, bar the Angel/LaGuerda storyline, this is miles above season 3.
Personally, I think it's going to end up on par with season 2, and I'm praying that either Deb or Rita discovers what Dexter really is before the season ends.

I agree, I liked season 3 as much as the others. And season 4 is turning out just as good.
Has anyone here read the books? I own them, but I just can't seem to get into them as much as I'd like to.
I read the first chapter of the first one online a while back, couldn't stand the author's writing style.
I've heard the third is utter garbage though.
I like how much more sociopathic Dexter is in the books. Megaspoilers:
If there's anything I don't like about the source material, it's the overly flowery writing style. It's unique, but enough with the three-part alliteration already. We get it. Dexter's name starts with "D", and so do many adjectives. Relentlessly Ranting Robert demands Deeply Disturbed Dexter to Deftly Drop the Dictionary, Dammit.
I'm excited to start on the second book tomorrow. A completely different storyline will help keep me from constantly comparing it to the show. (Although I'll always visualize the actors as the characters. It's impossible not to.)
From what I've heard, the second season and on no longer have anything to do with the books, just the first season did.
The whole Doakes investigating Dex thing in Season 2 (and indeed much of Doakes' character in general) is from the second book, pretty much.
But the whole thing that separates Dex from a common vigilante is the fact that he really doesn't have any emotional or empathy and he's faking his way through human interactions, and they've lost a bit of that.
I just hope the third book isn't as bad as they say. Apparently, the Dark Passenger becomes
Edit: Oh, and it looks like the fourth book was released last month. And to critical acclaim, no less. Sounds like a fifth one is also in the works, but the synopsis has me worried.
Ahahahaha. Guess I won't be reading that one.
