Thinkpad r500 and adventure gaming?

edited November 2009 in General Chat
Hello fellow adventure gamers!

I am contemplating buying this shiny new laptop: http://www.geekwithlaptop.com/lenovo-thinkpad-r500-notebook.

But. Will the newest Telltale games run on such a machine? Or do I need something even more modern and swanky? :)

(I only ever play adventure games, so I don't need a PC to run racing games or whatever it is young people enjoy playing these days.)

Graphics Card GMA X4500, GMA 4500MHD

Leads me to believe the answer is no.

Well, I bought one anyway. I read somewhere that the newer GMA graphics cards are not so bad, and as it turns out - they aren't. :)

I am playing Wallace and Gromit which runs nice and smooth, and also I have no problems with the MI Demo.

That's got a better processor than my laptop, and I have no issues running ToMI and W&G in mid to high settings.

The graphics card is going to give you trouble if you intend to pursue gaming down the road. For future reference, you should pursue laptops with dedicated graphics cards if you intend to take on games like Dragon Age: Origins. (which runs on my HP dv5! :D )

Or at least with an nvidia or ati chipset.

Most, if not all Nvidia & ATI notebook cards are dedicated, yes. I'm rocking and rolling a GeForce 9200M GS. It's not as uber as the name might imply, but it runs most current releases (Fallout 3 on medium, DA:O on low).

Perhaps someday I'll upgrade to a desktop, for serious business.

I also got the 9200M GS and everywere I check I get that I won't be able to play DA:O with it... I'm starting to get pissed with that stupid GPU. Still, on System Requirements Lab I passed minimum, which I know doesn't always mean much, so I got some questions for you:
How well does DA:O run on your system? Is it like 15 fps on 800x600 settings or is it playable without looking ugly? Does it run smooth? What are your other system specs? And last, but not least, is it worth the lack of graphic and visual experience for the gaming experience of DA:O?
    Thanks
