Psychonauts or Lucidity?

edited November 2009 in General Chat
I have enough in my PayPal account to buy one of these on Steam and I can't decide which one to get. I was hoping for some advice from someone who's played both games on which would be the best game to get first (I'll get both of them eventually). On the one hand I love Tim Schafer games, even though I never really warmed up to Grim Fandango...but I never played very far through either, and I hear that everyone says it's a very good game with only some minor flaws. I've heard different ideas saying that it was part adventure and part platformer. What is it exactly? I'll also be trying the demo, but I'd still like some insights from others.

On the other hand, I want to support LucasArts' initiative to finally break the mold and try something new and interesting. But how interesting is Lucidity? Is it enjoyable? Or is it just something that holds your interest for a little bit before you get bored with it ultimately and never come back to it?

You can play Psychonauts for free on gametap.

I know. I'd rather do it through Steam.

Well, one is a more funny game, and the other is a art-focused game about an unfunny little girl.

Psychonauts is a much deeper game, if they're near the same price then I would go for Psychonauts. Psychonauts is mostly a platform game, though, like Super Mario 64 type stuff, and with a lot of exploration and puzzle-solving and great story and humor.

I got bored with Lucidity before even finishing the demo. It's a neat concept, and very nice art, but it feels lacking in any real hook.

But if you have the means to try both demos before you buy one, I'd suggest you do that, since everyone experiences these things differently.

Well here's what I ended up doing. I acquired the first Wallace & Grommit episode free via the TMI pre-order deal back in June. And now I just seen that TTG was offering W&G episode 3 for free today so I grabbed that. Having 2 out of 4 episodes and not in the right order seemed strange so I just bought the second episode instead of Lucidity or Psychonauts. Telltale wins again! Now if only I'd have gotten the second episode of W&G free with the Play Like a Pirate deal instead of S&M 201 I could have all 4 W&G episodes now with the price of one! Especially since I just bought S&M season 2 today and have two keys for S&M 201 now.....oh well. Next time...

I'll take that key off your hands.

Can you do that? Is it possible to transfer keys between accounts?

I dunno, I just wanted to take it up just in case.

If you have a duplicate purchase in your account, you can probably email Telltale's customer service and they may be able to convert one of them into a "gift code" that you can give to somebody else.

^ They've been able to do that for me in the past.

I've had them just transfer my extra serials to a friend's account directly, but I've never asked for gift codes so I don't know if they do that or not.

I emailed them. They gave me a free episode coupon to do with as I wished. Now I have all 4 episodes of W&G! Sorry, StLouisRibs.

I never knew that they could do that. It prompted me to check my own serials, and I appear to have THREE for Bone: Out from Boneville, TWO for Bone: The Great Cow Race, TWO for Sam & Max 201: Ice Station Santa, and TWO for Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3. I honestly do not know how that happened. I should give MusicallyInspired's solution a go.

Cop: Sir, are you aware that there is a bong in your car?
Suspect: How did THAT get there!?!

PS. Psychonauts was an excellent game, save for the very last level. I still have the Psi Ball sitting on my desk from Majesco's promotional deal, by the way.
