In response to the poll...

I voted for Grim Fandango! Because it is my favorite game of all time!!!
However, that doesn't necessarily mean I want a sequel. I don't, because I feel it will ruin the charm of the original game. Telltale, as a fan, make more Sam and Max/Monkey Island/Bone games, but stay away from Grim Fandango. It means as much to me, as Star Wars does to some other people. Anybody agree/disagree with me?

Totally agree with you on this.

I agree, I also voted for Grim Fandango but would much rather see the Tales of Maniac Mansion idea thats been floating around these forums

I very much agree with you.

I voted for Full Throttle, but I also don't really want to see a sequel for it at this point (I would have wanted it back when they were doing Payback, but that was also back when Roy Conrad was still alive). I'd be down for a Maniac Mansion sequel though.

Well, I think with Tales, Telltale has shown that they are masters at doing new games awesome. And expanding games even further.

The title 'Grim Fandango' doesn't limit the game to characters named Manny Calavera or Glottis. Like with Star Wars, Grim Fandango has no limit. It's a universe. The land of the dead. Manny Calavera's journey ended when he got on the train to the Ninth Underworld, and a new one could begin.

It was VERY hard for me to decide which game to pick... because my potential favorites - apart from Monkey Island - weren't even listed.

So, the question was "What's your favorite LucasArts classic from the list below? (beyond Monkey Island, Sam & Max)"
And the options were: "Maniac Mansion", "Day of the Tentacle", "Full Throttle", "The Dig", "Zak McKracken" and "Grim Fandango"

If by "LucasArts classic" you meant "classic adventure games", then you left out three of them:
    * Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
    * Loom
    * Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

The latter 2 are among my all-time favorites, apart from the first 3 Monkey Island games.

Indy *was* conspicuously absent from that poll, wasn't he? Hmm, I wonder why?

Because obviously they're working on Doctor Who. Nudge nudge wink wink say no more.

The new Indy games sound (and apparently are) quite meh! I'd love to see Indy return to his adventure gaming glory days. But alas, we must remain realistic. The poll asked which was out favorite LucasArts adventure game and I'd have to say Grim Fandango. But if I were being asked which licence I'd most like to see as a future Telltale's project I'd have to say Day of the Tentacle.

    No, that's "wink, wink...nudge, nudge...arm wave, arm wave." :p

NSFW, sort of, if only for the blatant double entendres.

If you're insinuating (see what I did there?) that Brainiac doesn't get the reference you're sorely mistaken.

i really liked zak mckracken. i wish it would make another appearance

Loom was missing. So I chose The Dig. I discovered it when it was released on Steam and it really impressed me.
I never thought that LA could make a great serious game that is not about Star Wars.

I wish I could have voted in Loom. The trilogy needs to be finished.

I was torn on this one. The poll may be disuised as a "which game is your favourite" poll, but in reality, it could be a "which game series would you want Telltale to take on next" poll. I decided to take the poll as it was presented, so I voted Grim Fandango (although I might have had a problem if Fate of Atlantis were an option). But I think Zak McKracken or Day of the Tentacle (or Maniac Mansion series) would work better as individual episodic games. Especially Zak McKracken, where each episode could be about Zak investigating odd cases for their sleazy tabloid. Kinda like a very comical version of The X-Files, but where the ultimate goal is more or less to gather enough information and source material for an article.

Heh. MI knows me well enough to know that my knowledge of comedy is vast. And now you know as well. Was that enough knowing for everyone? You should also have known to check the title of my post, Gary.

    I know (and agree).

A little while ago I started a similar poll to the one Telltale are doing now, only I mercifully made it multiple choice :D

Guess why LOOM is not in the poll !
    They are doing it.
Its quite obvious ... and sad. because I wants BASS from TTG.

This poll is directed towards following up IPs.
Guess they still have to decide on releasing SnM Season3 vs new IP.
    See last two polls.

First off I have to ask this, what on earth is BASS? I've been trying to figure it out but I'm coming up with nothing  (I'm probably going to slap myself when you say it but right now I just can't for the life of me figure it out.)

Second off do you know something about LOOM and Telltale that we don't or are you just conjecturing? I would find LOOM as the next choice for a Telltale series surprising because the original game wasn't really considered a great success and seems like there far more lucrative IP's at Telltales disposal, especially now that they are on good terms with LucasArts. I'm not calling you a liar or anything I would just find it very surprising.

Personally I think they could do something very similar to BaSS without having to use that IP. I don't there is enough memorable content from it to warrant a sequel IMO.

Beneath a Steel Sky, a quality adventure game made by Revolution Software in 1994 and recently re-released as a remastered version for the iPhone/iPod Touch.

From what I've read Revolution have their own plans for a sequel and still plan to make it themselves.

Of course! *slaps hand against head* I knew it would be obvious once someone pointed it out :o

    Thanks :)

From what I've read Revolution have their own plans for a sequel and still plan to make it themselves.

Question is if Revolution can do it on its own?
The only releases that met expected results were the recent remakes.
BASS remastered is showing great numbers in the first month already.

We know how Rev. does with developing IP (not as great)
Cecil is interested/inspired by episodic gaming. Revolution has no experience in this. So it would be smart to play it safe and joint venture on the first project into this direction. Other safe play is to pull of new a SCUMMVM(2D) Project(iBASS Sequel). But isn't it more expensive to (risky) to do a scummvm project vs. a modern tool set? (3D expense vs 2D expense)

Yes it seems iBASS 2 is more probable. :/ And more probable to fail.

Charles Cecil mentions BASS sequel drawing boards a lot since iBASS
    and BS-Directors Cut.
