anyone who could help me(wii)

edited December 2009 in General Chat
I was about to play a virtual console zelda game on my wii's SD card menu, when I realized that my file was deleted. I wondered what happened and checked out my other games. ALL of the data on ALL of my games I downloaded and saved onto the SD card menu have been DELETED. All 5 strong bad's monkey island part 1-3, zelda, EVERYTHING. Does anyone know why this happened/ has a solution that doesn't involve me playing through ALL of those games AGAIN.

Was it the same SD card you downloaded your games onto? That's the only thing I can think of.

On a positive side, even if you have to re-download your games, you won't have to play through them again as the save files are stored on your Wii, not the SD card. They should all still be there.

EDIT: Woo, post 200. Go me.

That's the thing, I see the memory of the games on BOTH the wii and the sd card and neither worked. It says I have the memory of Strong bad on the wii and the SD card, but when I play strong bad, I get nothing. ALL of the files are not there.

Just remove the game data, not the save data. They're separate things, so you're safe.

If you do manage to somehow delete your own save data despite what I just said, then you probably shouldn't bother coming to this thread again.

Ok, now what is the game data and what is the save data?

The save data is basically the small(ish) save files on your Wii. The game data is what you downloaded to your SD card.

Try deleting the game data of ONE of your games on your SD card. It may, possibly, be too full. Don't even think about touching your save games.

I just checked that out, and that didn't work:( I deleted only the SD card data just like you said and kept the wii data and nothing:(

EDIT: Ok I just got a bad feeling. I noticed that whenever I load up a downloaded game on an SD carde that had no memory(before The issue) That they appear on the save data even when I saved nothing, so I;m wondering, did all my games delete themselves, then when I checked them out, they added themselves on the data screen making me think they are still there when in reality there was no memory of that game :( I really hope that is not true, I have many games I would have to replay if it is true though. On the plus side, when I host this one party with my friends on the 12th(going to see the colin and brad show) we will have A LOT of games to replay he he he he he he.

Make sure you get rid of these first:

Nope. Not unless it's a magnet the size of a car and you dropped it on top of the flash drive - that might hurt it a bit. :p

Click on wii options (main menu), Data management, save data,Wii, then click the wii icon at the top right (if it's not already selected). Are your save files listed here? If not, check the SD card. If your files are on the SD card, you will need to move them to the wii's normal memory. If your files aren't listed in either of these, that your data has been deleted, sorry.

EDIT: Curse you Friar! Stupid double-posting...

Ok. On your Wii's main menu, click the icon on the bottom left that says 'Wii'. Then select 'Data Management', then 'Save Data', then 'Wii'.

What you should see are all the Save Games you have on your Wii console. If you see lots of icons, then it's all there. If not, then the next thing to check is whether you have any save games on your SD card. To do so, select 'SD Card' in the top-right of the screen. If you see any icons here, then that's where all your save games have gone.

One thing to note is your Wii cannot read Save Games from an SD card. If you've moved your save games to an SD card and deleted them from your Wii, then that'll be your problem. You'll need to copy or move them back onto your Wii in order to play your games.

Presumably you know how to do this, but in case you don't... simply select one of the icons and a little sub-menu will pop up. There should be three options - Move, Copy and Erase. (Sometimes the Move option will be disabled, but that shouldn't be the case here)

If you have a save game on your SD card but not your Wii, then select that save game from your SD card and select 'Copy'. It should copy the save data onto your Wii. Once done, you should then be able to access that data whenever you play your game.

Again: You must have Save Data on your WII and not an SD card.

Let us know if that was your problem.
