I'm stuck.... again (Monkey Island 2) Spoilers!

Well I seem to have landed myself in a bit of a jam.

Rum Rogers has challenged me to a Grog Off and for the life of me I'm not sure how to defeat him...

I have figured out that I can pour my drink out into the plant.

I have figured out I cannot substitute any of the Bloody Lip drinks for RR's Grog.

Lastly, it seems that the most fitting solution would be the Near-Grog. It obviously will be easy to drink and should be similar in color to the real stuff... but Kate won't give me any and I'm sort of lost now...

Can anyone gently guide me with a few hints ?

    There's a great site that gives out just as many hints as you need without spoiling stuff. They cover a huge number of games, as well. LeChuck's Revenge is one of them. Here's the MI2 page. You should be able to find the section you're after quite quickly.

    Rather then bother us all the time, you should be able to just check that site whenever you get stuck. It shouldn't spoil anything, just give you nudges in the right direction until you can figure it out for yourself.

    Apparently. I did too, back in the days. The reputation of the puzzle's lack of logic surpasses the puzzle itself, really. The hate for that puzzle is waaaaaaaay overrated/exaggerated imo.
