My computer's been acting a bit weird...

So I left it on to finish a download, when I came back home it had turned itself off. I go to turn it back on and nothing happens, I immediately dung the load. So anyway I just popped the power cable out and in again and turned it on and all's good now, but i'm worried all the same for this thing's only just over a year old, I don't wanna fry it to death or anything

Only thing that's sorta amiss on the comp is a noisy side panel fan that quietens down after a few minutes of use (i'll give it an oil and clean soon) but otherwise seems to function fine

What think you people?

    Happened to me once. your computer probably wasn't turned off, it went into a state where it gets all the power it needs, but nothing works. Like it's brain dead or something. pressing the power button will do nothing because most machines disable its ability to power off the machine. If you press it now for example while you're on it, nothing will happen.You have to press and hold that button for like 10 seconds for it to turn it off. Could be that there was a power surge in your house. It wasn't long enough to turn the computer off, but just enough to 'confuse' it.

    It's certainly not out of the question, all the same i'll be keeping a close eye on this bad boy though :p Cheers man!
