Tales of Monkey Island Rise of the Pirate God Jittery Graphics

edited December 2009 in Game Support
Hello,
First I want to say I love the series and cant get enough.

I seem to be having an issue with the latest game "Rise of the Pirate God" It seems that the graphics are jittery in intervals of every 1 second or so.
The Graphics and the Cursor are moving in a pulse like manner. I didnt have this issue with any of the other Tales of monkey island games or all of the wallace and gromits.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and even checking my drivers and direct X
Any ideas?

Have you tried turning down the graphics quality a bit? This episode has a lot more in the way of effects going on at all times, so that might be stressing your computer more than usual.

Yes I even put it down to 2. It also happens on the Main screen. The mouse pointer will skip. While playing the game its like its perfectly smooth then blip Guybrush has moved a foot over. Like the game is seeing all of it fine but its just in a repeat skip pattern.

Its not like a Graphics glitch per say its more like it skips at regular 1 second intervals. It doesnt slow down etc.

Ok, well in that case, let's try turning everything else off to see if one of your other programs is interfering. To Boot Clean in Windows XP

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG --> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Process SYSTEM.INI file
    4. Uncheck Process WIN.INI file
    5. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    6. Click on the Services tab
    7. At the bottom, check Hide All Microsoft Services
    8. Uncheck all boxes in the window or click the button labeled Disable All
    6. Click OK
    7. Click Restart
    8. After reboot, run game to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG--> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click OK
    4. Click YES, when asked to restart your computer

I will have to give that a shot. Although I only have 1 thing running at startup so it still stumps me. I completed the game anyways with the jitters. I really wanted to play out the story hehe.

I will give you my results.
