I think Tintin could translate well to an adventure game. It would probably introduce new fans to Telltale as well. If their allegedly upcoming "serious" game turned out to be Tintin, I'd be quite the happy camper. :)

I fear the Tintin movie currently in development may suck though.

that's a good idea. I wouldn't mind a TinTin adventure game - although it would have to be very light hearted. TinTin and "Overly serious" don't really mix

With the upcoming Tintin movie by Speilberg and Jackson, I think a Tintin game will end up outside Telltale's budget.

Doesn't have to be a movie tiein though does it? I'm sure the copyright owners of TinTin wouldn't be that tight arsed!

Yep. There will probably be a game to tie in with the movie, and it will probably be a horribly substandard action-oriented thing. We can dream though. :)

Edgar Wright as a cowriter and Simon Pegg/Nick Frost as Thompson and Thomson makes me extremely optimistic.

And come on. Speilberg and Jackson. PETER JACKSON.

So? I actually found his King Kong kinda sucking...
And I just liked The Frighteners and some other things from him.
I loved LOTR, though. I'm looking forward for Jackson/DelToro's Hobbit

LotR was epic, but like Javi-Wan, I didn't much fancy King Kong.

The last Spielberg project I got excited about was the fourth Indy movie, and I found that disappointing, so I guess I'm holding back a little on the excitement factor. I'd rather keep my expectations low and be pleasantly surprised by something incredible. That said, I very much hope it will be awesome!

And John Williams is doing the score. I hope they keep the same awesome theme from the cartoons.

I'm sure that whatever the rest of the movie is like, Pegg/Frost will be a highlight. :)

Have you seen Spaced (early-ish Simon Pegg and Nick Frost stuff)? If not, it's well worth tracking down. I'm not sure if it made it overseas.

Spaced is one of my favorite shows. I tracked it down less-than-legally right after seeing Shaun of the Dead for the first time, and loved every minute. The day it came out on DVD in the US, I found myself in NYC and attended a signing at the Virgin Megastore with Simon, Edgar, and Jessica. That was an awesome day.

For US-ers, the full show's also on Hulu: http://www.hulu.com/spaced

I also, out of morbid curiosity, once tracked down the script for the unaired US remake pilot. It made my roommate and me cry.

So with Sam & Max announced for 2010, does that mean it will be the NEXT game series?
  • edited December 2009
i don't think the next game is important to be honest because to me, the games seem to be a theme rather than a game, for example monkey island was different from previous ones, but with a monkey theme, e.g. the voodoo lady was suspicious.

Telltale do a good job of the theme, one thing i don't want them to do is this new thing game developer's are doing where they're going back to 2d, (mario wii) or black and white with red blood, or minimal colours (zelda windwaker). i just want them to be "modern". i mean the old 2d i don't mind, but this new type, high quality 2d, i don't like.

Yes. This thread pre-dates that annoucement, and people have since turned it into a "Okay, after Sam and Max what will the next game be?" thread.

Something Ashton posted in the Sam and Max forum gave me the idea for a Zork game made by Telltale. I think that would be very cool.

At the risk of sounding like a complete fanboy, I'd love a Monkey Island and Strongbad crossover game, although I know that would never happen.

Still, a Strongbad vs Murray argument would be hilarious. :p
