Considering that we knew from the begining that this wasn't going to be the final game, that scene was likely added as a stepping stone for the next game.

Whether this is another season or even perhaps the final game that Ron kept talking about that reveals the secret is another matter. I say we all sit back and take it easy and see what turns up. :)

I don't think it's a cliffhanger, but an open ending.
Next Monkey Island game may or may not continue the story JUST from there.

so did morgan say she wanted to stay a ghost? "Ghost pirate hunter morgan leflay, i like the sound of that" does that mean she wants to be a ghost who hunts pirates or a pirate hunter who specifically hunts pirate ghosts?

Well Voodoo Lady is allowing her to walk around the living world as a ghost, so maybe she considers being a ghost an advantage to being a tough pirate hunter. Now how she would actually be able to hunt pirates that way is beyond me.

She was able to carry the jar, so maybe she's a special ghost. Like LeChuck in SMI.

one of lechucks minions was holding grog in SMI so there must be ways ghosts can interact with our world's objects

Maybe Voodoo Lady let her go through Big Whoop \ whatever place on Monkey Island that LeChuck and his crew went through, so Morgan has the same ability to move objects in physical world as they had?
That'd give us a scene on Monkey Island and explain how Ghost Morgan can hunt pirates.
