Serious graphics issues

edited December 2009 in Game Support
Im having some big issues while trying to run TOMI on my compaq presario 6000.
all the minimal requirements are met and i updated the drivers, and everything looks fine until the game starts. the background images are fine, but anything beyond that just looks like big, jagged blocks of solid colors.
not sure what it could be as all the graphics drivers seem to be working fine otherwise.

help?

Have you tried reducing the graphics settings? It defaults at the highest possible on your PC (usually 9), which a lot of the time causes problems like lag. Under Settings>Graphics Options, you can reduce the quality from 9 to 1.

I have tried that. I set it all the way to 1 and it looked the same. Interestingly enough, if I change any graphics preferences mid-play, and return to the game, the graphics actually get much worse. If i switch the settings and then restart the game, they remain equally as bad as to begin with.

That seems to be a pretty old Compaq model.
Please give us a dxdiag log so we can analyze your System:
    dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Then zip the file and attach it to a message.

The Radeon 9xxx series is known to cause trouble. You will probably need a new graphics card.

But let's first try different drivers.
You can try the latest ATI Driver for your card. If that doesn't work try the Radeon Omega Driver 3.8.252.

    Description: Realtek AC97 Audio
    Date and Size: 10/1/2004 12:24:02, 2279424 bytes

There's an update for your audio driver as well.

after updating to both of those drivers, the graphics are now just pixelated and full of holes as mentioned in the thread you linked too. i think ill just need to ask for a refund since there was never a real solution for that problem besides updating the graphics card. :(
thanks for the help anyways, let me know if you think of something else.
