Help Monkey Island Demo Crashed My Computer

edited December 2009 in Game Support
I installed the demo and it crashed my computer so I uninstalled it but now my Divx web player won't work. I've tried restoring the computer to an earlier date, reinstalled divx, Directx and my video drivers to no avail.

So I need to know exactly what software/drivers the game installs so I can fix my computer.

I guess no one from Telltale games monitors this board.

I think it's just a bad time of the year for getting support quickly with people on vacation.

Let's try to figure this out.

What exactly do you mean by "crashing your computer"?
Which Browser do you use and does it work in a different one?
What happens if you try to play a video with the web player and does it happen on different websites?

A dxdiag log would be helpful as well.
dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Then zip the file and attach it to a message.

Fortunately, DjNDB does not believe in vacation! :)

My display is the sun and the humming of my computer is the sound of the sea. Ahhh, relaxing.

I started to play the game and I got the ole blue screen of death.
I'm using FF 3.0.16. If I go to a page with a Divx file on it the player will load normally but if I push the start button nothing happens. The same thing happens with chrome, which I installed after all the problems started so I know it isn't a conflict with chrome.

Description: SB Audigy Audio [9000]
Date and Size: 2/23/2004 15:11:46, 366352 bytes

It is possible that the old driver caused the bluescreen.
You should install the latest Audigy driver.
If you haven't done so yet run the DirectX updater as well.

That should make the game happy.

As for DivX - Have you tried completely uninstalling everything DivX related before reinstalling it?

If that doesn't help:
Does your internet connection go through a proxy?
Does your problem look like the one here?
Have you tried the DivX web player version 1.5?

There's also a new graphics driver for your system just in case.

I did uninstall the divx software before reinstalling.
I tried to reinstall DX again but the installer said I have the most current version but I'll give it another try.
Forgot to add: The divx problem in your link is not the same.
Thanks for all your help DjNDB :)
