Help! My graphics are only half way working!

when i start the game, tales of monkey island-launch of the screaming narwhal, the words on the main menu screen can be seen but not the graphics, it's totally black. My windows xp has the minimum requirement and i have directx up to date. what can i do?

Hmm... Maybe check the drivers for the video card? Which card is that?

Try lowering the graphics quality and/or turning off full screen.
