Glad I bought the games on not-Steam to get the LE season DVD! I LOOOOVE Steam, but I would have been pissed if I couldn't access the Mac versions of this. Perfect laptop games.
Why is Earl Boen the voice of LeChuck in the intro, though? Isn't that a little inconsistent? Are they getting him to re-record the LeChuck lines in the series or something?
He's also LeChuck in Chapters 4 and 5 (was from the start) and the first chapter for PC will be updated as well. The way I understand it, he could only make a single trip so all his lines were recorded at once, meaning the intro needed to have another voice in the meantime.
Using the mouse to move Guybrush around is basically a no-go. Every time I press down the left mouse button to move, the cursor seems to jump to the lower left corner, causing him to move in that direction every time. The mouse also seems to jump across the screen randomly now and then and it's all a bit frustrating.
Same thing here. Press and hold the mouse button, move Guybrush just a little bit and release - cursor is in the lower left corner of the screen. Furthermore, I use an iMac with a (larger) external display, so the external is the main display. Especially when walking it happens that the invisible cursor is moved onto the iMac screen, which is black, so I have to move it back. It's a minor annoyance, didn't keep me from playing through the first episode right away.
You guys ROCK! When ToMI was first announced, I preordered in a heartbeat, not caring what platform it was for. I ended up installing Boot Camp, and the games were worth every penny. Now I'll be able to play them in my natural environment!
Presumably these versions will be on the DVD, too? I can't wait!
As for voting on the next series to be ported, there's a missing option: whatever you're working on next! The only thing that can make this mac push better is simultaneous dual-platform release of new games.
Again, thanks, Telltale! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present!
hah, what a timing... my X360 just broke down and, having to wait for a replacement from M$, was wondering what I should play in the meantime. Ive been running TOMI trhough bootcamp on my iMac24" on Win7... so Im wondering if I can import the PC save games to the mac and continue where I left off in Windows (where would i have to paste the files? you just drop the app into the app folder, cant see a save game folder :P )
This is just brilliant. I had the 1st chapter since September, but this was the reason I needed to take the plunge, since all I have now is a MacbookPro.
Wow! I've bought the season since the beginning, but never came past the middle of Episode 2, since I never found enough to play it.
But now, I might progress better, since I'll perhaps find the time to play it in little steps now and then, without having to reboot with Bootcamp.
Most of all, though, I'm impressed by your policy. You could have easily sold the game for full price to some Mac users owning the Windows version. Or for a reduced price. As a "special offer" to those owning the game already. But no, you've decided to give it to us for free. Amazing
I support this stance wholeheartedly (and not just because I've been running Tales in CrossOver). If only more companies would do the same.
Personally i hate digital distribution, because it'll kill off the physical market and generally will leave the costumer with less choice in terms of price... (practicing highstreet retail prices on digital products, and keeping the price for a long time, with no other source...)
BUT... if there is a company that is showing the mertits of digital distribution, thats telltale. bringing out games digitally that, otherwise, would never receive a publishing deal, and offering the chance to play them on multiple platforms, is a great way to show the merits of digital distribution. congratulations.
ps: there are less Mac's out there than PC's... but the userbase is growing rapidly. its definitely a smart move. if more people see that gaming is possible on a mac, maybe there will be more people buying a mac instead of a pc.
Just chiming in to say that I also experience the click and drag problem. The cursor jumps to the bottom-left of the screen, making Guybrush immediately more left. I always use the arrow keys, though.
Some other small bugs:
When examining the weather vane, Guybrush holds it up as he should but the arrow on the vane jumps around to different directions. And I don't mean it swings quickly. I mean that one frame of animation has it pointing one direction and the next has it pointing in the complete opposite direction. It makes the jungle puzzle that uses the vane very difficult to figure out.
I came back to town after meeting Deep Gut for the first time. After the cutscene with Nipperkin, the camera was positioned so that I could see Crimpdigit's shop, but not the jungle entrance. As a result, I couldn't see Guybrush near the pillars. I had to click on something in order to get him to walk onscreen.
Thanks again for the Mac version! Please let us know when these bugs get fixed. When they're fixed, I'm gifting the whole season to at least one of my friends that has a Mac!
Free Mac versions, hurray! Thanks Telltale! Yet again, another example of a great company going the extra mile for their customers.
Unfortunately it looks like I can't run the games until I update to Leopard, but that's my bad.
Just bought the full release, now that it's out for Mac. Thanks Telltale for coming around and supporting the platform properly. As far as I can tell, it's native code, instead of cider/wine, so even better.
Looking forward to playing through it, and hopefully Sam & Max will be next.
There's also some minor things when it comes to the launcher, like when the launcher's up and you switch to another window and try switching back again, it won't focus on the launcher's window. There's also some weird colory stuff happening when you launch the game and it's transitioning to fullscreen.
These are the only issues I've seen on my Mac - on the very first launch the game switched to a lower resolution and resized all the window of my other open applications. I've seen this behaviour with other games but it is also possible to avoid it. Once set in game to the native resolution it isn't an issue.
When I exit the game the launcher window comes back up but there is no mouse cursor. I have to use command Q to quit. If I tab to another application the mouse cursor returns but it disappears again when tabbing back to the game launcher. It may be something related to "Spaces" - I generally move to a new Space when launching a game it keep it separate from my others running applications.

Not necessarily - I have the same two occurences, and I do not have spaces enabled. (Haven't mentioned it in my earlier posting - this is on 10.6.2 on an iMac Core Duo 20").
Also, I had one freeze in Ep 1, but can't replicate it (I'm playing, not debugging ).
Been a Telltale Games player since mid-2007, and waiting for this day to come. Never posted in the forums, but just had to say thanks for being one of the bold game developers that are willing to go that extra mile to make your fans happy. Looking forward to getting into some Telltale gaming on the mac!
Amazing. I played ToMI on a borrowed laptop, saw this announcement, and was actually considering paying for it again to have it on my iMac. Then I finished reading and found out I don't have to. So in love.
Thanks Telltale for looking out for your customers! I was so excited to be able to log back in and grab the Mac version for free! (having purchased the PC version). Please bring Sam n Max too! Great job. Keep the adventure titles coming. What a great company!
This is truly wonderful. Like many others I´ve been buying Monkey Island and other Telltale-games running Bootcamp. It works fine, but Mac-versions is so much more convenient. I was fully prepared to buy the games again, but to discover that I could actually download the new mac versions for free is nothing short of amazing. Well done guys and thank you. This is seriously one of the best game buying experiences I´ve had.
Telltale Games, you are now officially my favourite game studio. Being your customer has from the beginning been nothing but a pleasure. Everything from the homepage and forums, to the well designed webshop to the game themselves is just a fantastic experience. It´s obvious that you really respect both your customers and the franchises you´re working on. Be sure that I will stay around for anything you have in store for us in the future.
Wohoo, just read that on macnews and started downloading the episodes i missed playing! It's really great I do not have to use Bootcamp! And without additional costs! Brilliant!
Guys, what can I say
You could've sent me an e-mail about this!!!
What a great thing! You're the best (at least: among the best )!
My wife will love to play ToMI on her MacBook
Thank you so much! I registered just to post this, but now that I see the kind of community you have here, I'll be posting more often. I just bought Tales, and can't wait to not have to load up VMWare to play Strong Bad!
Thanks Telltale!! I was previously playing the wii version, but the pc graphics and sound are sooo much better! Now the mac version is just as good and I don't have to deal with boot camp! Thank you!!!
Just wanted to add myself to the many grateful Mac users who are happy that ToMI is available for the Mac. I had played Ch. 1 & 2 through Parallels, so now I don't need to run the game in virtualization. And to have the existing license work with the Mac version as well was pure genius! You truly listen to your fans. Thank you!
Hey guys! Thanks for all of your feedback and comments. I'm back in the office now after a nasty case of flu turned pink eye turned macworld, and I'll be looking in to tracking these issues down and clearing them up wherever possible.
Alleluia! Alleluia! [thread=10249]My suffering is over![/thread] Now the real question is, why wasn't I notified? I'm still registered to the newsletter, right? I noticed this today on Macworld.com (and though I found the article about it afterward, I first saw the Google ad… first time I ever non-jokingly clicked a Google ad).
Thank you TellTale. I've already bought TOMI for PC on Steam and was playing it through CrossOver games, and I'm buying it again just to support Mac development
Do the people who bought the PC version and was using a boot thing have to pay for the Mac version again?
Nope, not as long as you bought it from Telltale. It's offered as a download in the same place and uses the same key as the PC version. If you got it through Steam, though, you're out of luck.
Been waiting for this day for a loooong time I've had the Windows version of the first chapter (since the Talk-Like-A-Pirate-Day Promotion) and downloaded the Mac version yesterday. Runs smoothly on my 3-year-old MacBook Pro. Couldn't stop playing. Played through the entire Treasure Hunt part after finishing the main game Picking up the other 4 chapters tomorrow Amazing to have more Mac developers Thank you Telltale
One question: next season of MI, will the Mac versions be released at the same time as the PC?
I have a worrying feeling that I know the answer to this, but I hope I'm wrong.

We'll see for S&M 3, but I think they plan to have simultaneous Mac & PC releases for all future seasons (outside of the CSI games).
Well I find it runs really well on my iMac, I can have the graphics quality set to 9 whereas running on XP in Bootcamp I found that anything above 6 and the frame rate started dropping a bit too much.
Just one request, can you please write a patch to sort the mouse movement out, it's really not as easy as in Windows when the cursor keeps jumping to the bottom corner and moving Guybrush around is trickier.

another reason why you guys are one of the best game companys out there!
btw: i voted for sam & max

Next thing to do will be trying to run all five Monkey Island games on my Mac simultaneously.
