Game freezes

edited March 2010 in Game Support
:mad:Please help, I am running Csi Deadly Intent on Windows 7, I played the first case: Broken Hearted with no problems at all. However I am completely stuck on case 2. As soon as I change location to Brass's office, the game freezes. I have retried about 5 times. Task Manager shows the game as not responding.

Hmm, it sounds like you may have a corrupted game. Could you try uninstalling it and reinstalling it? Make sure you keep your save game though.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, only to have it happen to me later on the game. I have now totally abandoned the game after uninstalling and reinstalling 4 times. So frustrated as I love playing CSi!!!

What type of computer are you playing on, a laptop or a desktop? Do you know what type of video card you have?

I am on a desktop. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
    Thanks for trying to help.

Have you tried it during a clean boot?

Please also give us a dxdiag log.

    dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Then zip the file and attach it to a message.

Booting clean in Windows Vista / 7:
    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG --> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    7. Click on OK
    8. Click Restart.
    9. After reboot, run the game to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG--> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

    Thanks

Try the latest Nvidia driver and Realtek HDA Driver. Also run the DirectX updater.
