EA to publish Death Spank

So, I've read a few articles about it, and they all say that EA is going to handle distribution for Xbox and PS3, with no mention of PC. Does that mean a different company (possibly hothead itself) will get it out on the PC, or are we screwed again (see Alan Wake not coming to PC)?

Either way, it's exciting to see such a big company come behind the game!

Most likely, EA will publish the PC version as well. Cool to see Deathspank being picked up by one of the world's biggest publishers. EA did a great job promoting Brütal Legend.

Considering Ron Gilbert is involved, I would be very surprised if we don't see a PC version at some point, even if it's download-only. (Ditto Brutal Legend)

I wouldn't be surprised if we're forced to endure a console only initial release followed by a PC release a few months later, but as long as it comes all is good. EA seems to have shrugged off the reputation of crapness it used to have recently, though that might just be because Activision Blizzard has proved that its run by even more moronic individuals. Autumn Moon should have got themselves on EA (with console releases if necessary), they might actually get noticed and sell something if they can bag a publisher like EA.

But are we going to get a PC version of Brutal Legend? Its been a good while since that was released now, hopefully some news on that will materialise soon.

I would kill for a PC release of Brutal Legend. I don't have an Xbox so I mooched off my brother to play it in the first place, and I can't play online because he doesn't have Xbox Live. :(

Looks like I'll be in the same boat for Deathspank. C'mon EA, you can be a little more cool, can't you?

I have no knowledge of what's going on with DeathSpank, but I know with Valve, they publish their PC downloadable games themselves via Steam, and EA Partners handles the retail publishing. So, for instance, Left 4 Dead comes out at the same time at retail as it does via download direct from Valve, but EA is handling the retail store version and Valve handles the download. Again, no clue what the DeathSpank arrangement is, but having EA Partners handling the console publishing doesn't necessarily come with baggage in terms of the release dates per platform.
  • I needs my Deathspank. I'm talking to you Ron. I know you're lurking here.

I can understand that a game isn't released on every available platform so as long as it's available on more than one I'm happy. :)

It's annoying that I can't play Heavy Rain since I choose Alan Wake instead. It's good that Brütal Legend and now Deathspank are released on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

I'm just hoping it doesn't have requirements of epic proportions like most other PC titles, since my computer's old.

Oh, and I'm also hoping it's on PC. But it's highly unlikely that this game won't be on PC, in my opinion.

    Interesting, looking forward to DeathSpank!

Hothead have their own digital distribution channel. I'd imagine that's how PC, Mac and Linux versions would get released.

Nice. EA are incredibly talented at advertising and promoting.

I hope it does come out for the PC sometime. Same with Brutal Legend.

Honestly i would expect it to be released on the computers before the consoles versions show up or at least at the same time.

I agree. I would be surprised if Hothead didn't release DeathSpank on Windows and Mac OS X.

Also, the Hothead team did a great job with Penny Arcade Adventures, so I'm excited to see what that team plus Ron Gilbert's mind will make.

I wonder if we'll ever see an MMO... 'World of Deathspank'.

The official site has a new trailer. Just watch the video. It starts off the same as the old one, but then flips.
