The Underrated Thread

edited March 2010 in General Chat
There's plenty of things that don't get the proper recognition or appreciation that they deserve. Therefor, they are underrated. So, whether it be in gaming, music, television, movies, food, drink, or the animal kingdom, if there's something that you think is underrated, then share it with us here.

    Escape from Monkey Island!

Oh Sailor...oh, oh Sailor. While I agree, I hate the amount of flames you will receive for this post. Godspeed!!
  • edited March 2010
No, I agree with Sailorcuteness as well, Escape was a good game that cops way too much criticism. I'll defend him from any flames that may come his way!

Methinks the Time of Crunch has fallen upon Telltale Games ...

I say vinegar. It makes food tasty and it's good for cleaning. Also, blowing soap bubbles. Doesn't matter how old I get, watching a bunch of them float around in the sunshine is always calming and joyous.

I reckon limbs are pretty underrated.

    Fray Bentos pies.

You mean like, trees or people? 'Cause I'm with you all the way if it's tree limbs; people don't realize how important a nice, thick limb near the base of a tree is for climbing, especially on a tree with smooth bark! *sigh* Good reading trees are so hard to find, too.

    The Hitchhikers Guide movie.

Think about it. DNA never did the story the same way twice. He always changed a whole lot.

All of the changes in the movie were his ideas before he died.
Quite possibly the biggest changes were in the text based game
  • edited March 2010
The Hitchhiker's movie should have been directed by Terry Gilliam or Terry Jones or not at all.

The elderly, women, men, Emo Phillips, Jesus, John Ritter, B. J. Hunnicutt, John Ondrasik, Larry Fine, Chico Marx, Zeppo Marx, Wheeler & Woolsey, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, Arnold Swarzenneggar movies, An American Tail, The Secret of NIMH, The Rescuers Down Under, Don Bluth, The Hunchback of Notre Dame the Disney version, bugs, Pepsi, police, soldiers, blondes, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Jeff Bridges, the British, anime, Tony Shalhoub, Bruce Campbell, adventure games, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew etc. The list goes on.

For me, it has to be the toothy things in the middle of the inside of CD cases that hold the CD in place... :D

Ha, yes actually! Especially for two-CD cases where one CD has to sit upside-down or they both has to sit sideways. And whenever you have a CD case with the teeth missing or broken, it always makes things difficult.

Whose line, also known as the worlds funniest show. It got cancelled:( the point of the show was that the actors would be given a scene that is brand new to them(with the help of the audience) and they will improvise the scene, it was hilarious.
Some of my favorite lines from this show
Hey I didnt mean to cook your dog:D
    Monkey Monkey chew the butter
Oh boy im a lucky mr. dont need you im dating your sister
corpses bobbing in the sea(alternate theme for titantic)
Funny enough all but one was done by the same guy.

This wasn't my favourite show but I did watch it from time to time, and yes, it was enjoyable. I really like the segments where:

    - There are two actors who can only reply to each other in questions.
    - There are four actors whose lines must consist of a certain amount of words.
    - Two actors must act out a scene, speaking in a fake language and the other two actors must translate the lines into something hilarious (I think that's how it went, anyway).

But yeah, it was a good show.

I liked the one where one actor can say anything he wants, but the others have only two lines each they're allowed to use (as many times as they want), and they act out a scene.

Whose Line was quality, especially the ones with Ryan Stiles in them (so most of them!). Colin Mochrie & Greg Proops were also very good.

Wayne Brady was genius I tell you.

    Whose line was great
  • edited March 2010
The episodes with Stephen Colbert and Robin Williams guest starring were the best ones they ever did...ever.

It was a bloody awesome show. I miss it. :(

My favorite skits were Scenes From a Hat and Film Noir. :D I also liked Wayne Brady's musical improv. My high school had an improv class that was based on this show, and lets just say on the night of the Grand Finale, they produced some pretty hilarious results.
  • edited March 2010
Eh… Improv looks a lot harder than it actually is. I actually feel the opposite about Whose Line. I feel it is a bit overrated in terms of difficulty or the talent that is required.

Brandy. It helps me make the world bearable. Also, keys and the Seven Years War.

From the little I saw of him he was quite good - he only appeared on the British shows a few times and I've not seen much of the American version.

I don't find anything is underrated, its just they don't apeal to the mainstream and thats what makes them great they're not dumbed down for a wider audience.

One of my favourite sitcoms is Garth Merenghi's Dark Place, they only made about five episodes, but it was still genius.

I agree with this man .. for the sake of discussion on the other hand:

    Quit smoking
    Bacon and salad on hamburgers
    The Godfather part 3
    Gravity
    Russia
    Corruption
    Nuclear weapons of mass destruction
    The apocalypse
    Adam West

    .. etc etc

Is that the one with Moss and Douglas from The IT Crowd (which is underrated in America)?

I consider "underrated" being the same as "taken for granted."

    For instance?

    Rainbow sprinkles.

Nobody ever sits there and thinks "Man, we are so lucky in the world to have rainbow sprinkles. What would my ice cream and cookie be without them?"
    But they should.

Because Rainbow Sprinkles are the bestest.

    I prefer chocolate sprinkles.
Especially the belgian ones, sold in huge boxes to sprinkle on toast for breakfast. That should be available in every single country. What am I supposed to have for breakfast now?

Electricity is underrated, as is running water

The internet however is well overrated :p
