You may love some of the above foods, you may hate some, you may love them all, you may hate them all. Most of these foods are widely unpopular but are loved by those that do actually enjoy them. So anyway, just click the boxes of the above foods that you enjoy. For some bizarre reason, I'm eager to know.

Edit: By 'enjoy', I mean 'are able to tolerate'.

Should've had a "None of the above" option.

Nah, there's nothing wrong with Anchovies - the rest, on the other hand... :(

Well being Vegetarian, I can only eat olives, I don't though. So I cannot answer this.

I've only actually tasted olives, and by gum I hate hate hated them. I was like 15 and our Classical Civilisation teacher brought them in, I think she was in a sadistic mood that day

Love all of them. Especially olives and sushi.
  • edited March 2010
Sushi all the way, baby.

I don't eat oysters nearly as often, but I find them quite tastey too. Olives ... used to hate 'em as a kid. They're not the kiss of death they used to be -- not even close -- but still not my cuppa. Anchovies are something I really wish I could like, but ... ehhhhhh. Too salty. Not for me.

Now excuse me while I salivate over some imaginary sashimi. Mmmm. Dammit, why isn't it time for my lunch break yet?

Sushi only refer to the type of rice. There is lots of sushi, even traditional, that's vegetarian.

I misread the part about "able to tolerate". I used to be able to tolerate all but oysters, probably due to the fact my dad only warned me it was still alive when it was already in my mouth, the one time I had it.
I'm also vegetarian now so I can't have anchovies or oysters. I don't like olives but I can tolerate them and I adore sushi. The transition to vegetarian sushi was extremely easy, turns out it tastes exactly the same. I think the specific rice, the tamari+wasabi, the pickled ginger and the nori are enough for it to taste the same without raw fish in/on it.

Yeah, it tastes pretty similar with all the trappings. I'm too much of a carnivore to give on up the sashimi (and unagi [freshwater eel] -- the sauce it's drenched in is positively divine), but I've eaten some incredibly tasty vegetable rolls too. Other vegetarians and/or those who are put off by the raw fish in other types of sushi should take note.

Argh, why did you have to mention eel? That's the only thing I miss. It's so tasty.

But yeah, I think too many vegetarians have the impression that they can't eat anything anymore, when that's not true. Lots of very common dishes have vegetarian versions, and some were even vegetarian originally but had meat added to them when they were imported into Europe or North America.

Plus there might also be people who dislike fish but would like to try sushi, for instance. Although if you don't like fish you probably wouldn't like nori either since it's a seaweed. It does have a "seafood" kinda taste.

I hate them all! Where's the Marmite option?

Well I've been veggie for over 20 years now (well 10 I was pescatarian until I was about 10). I had no Idea there was vegetarian sushi (I assumed it referred to raw fish).

I like sushi and olives. I haven't tried the other two, maybe someday.

Summary of what I said in the post that shall never be: Unlike you, I became a vegetarian relatively late, I have favourite recipes, not all vegetarians, and didn't see a reason to stop eating them due to a single ingredient. My brother-in-law is allergic to nuts and I'm allergic to milk so I'm used to substituting if need be, and in many recipes the vegetarian version already exists.
When it doesn't, it's just a matter of finding the right legume/nut/seed. Mexican food > red, black, pinto (possibly refried)
    Middle Eastern > chickpeas, sesame
    Asian > soy, azuki
When in doubt > lentils! (my favourite. I was raised on lentils. So tasty. Chickpeas are a close second though, and sometimes they take the lead randomly).

Oh, also, add joke about how you were actually first vegetarian, like everyone else, then pescatarian, hahaha.
Philosophical question about whether drinking breast milk is vegan since veganism is about exploiting animals and beast milk is given with consent.
Quick change of topic to avoid discussing other human products.
Comment about how I just need to find someone who can't have gluten to cook for and I'll have done it all.
End of post. Bug while posting. Frustration. Starting over.

Okay, I'll start with the last letter of this post.

By the way, I either voted Anchovies or Sushi. I love both. I probabely did Sush

    I second this. :D

I'm a vegetarian so I don't eat any of the fish stuff. I've seen vegetarian sushi in shops but am yet to give it a go.

And I really don't like olives. They're the second worst thing I've tasted!

Yep. Marmite's the thing I love that a lot of people hate.

Yes, I'm one of those weirdos who likes this stuff. Seriously. Though not enough to mind if it ever ceased to exist, so.

I don't mind Spam. If it's prepared, I'll eat it, but I won't go out of my way to get it.

Out of that list, I can only say I like olives. On occasion.
