    That, and True Blood.

(And for True Blood I've actually read the first eight books - I'll get to Dexter eventually... :D)

You know, several people are listing movies based on books on here, when I really thin\k some of the "books" listed are actually books based on the movies. That is to say that the movie was made first.

...for example, Secret Fawful said that the Matrix sequels were bad movie adaptions of great books, but I would bet that if there were any Matrix-related books, the books would be based on the movies, not vice-versa. Whether the movies are good or not is not my point, rather that I think some people confuse which was made first.

Even though their plots are very very different, many see The Matrix as a spiritual adaption of Neuromancer.

As far as books based on The Matrix, Neil Gaiman made a pretty good short story based on the movies called Goliath.

Blade Runner. But this will be a short thread ;)

The movie goes into a totally different direction than the book. I dont consider it a real adaptation, but more like "inspired by"

And i liked more the movie by the way, although like i said before, book and movie are two different things so a comparison wouldn´t be fair.

Now going on with the topic.
"No Country for Old Men": good book, good movie, good adaptation.

I'm waiting for Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I loved the book, I love Michael Cera, I love Edgar Wright.

I'll add The Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum to the already excellent lists here.

Actually, more often then not it seems to me that movies based on books are always better than other movies. Which saddens me a little...

The books had nothing to do with the movies, though. The second book, if I remember correctly, had
Jason Bourne rescue his wife from some Chinese terrorists with a fondness for beheading people
, whereas the movie starts-off with
his wife being shot and killed
    .
