Upgrading Help

OK, so I'm on a Macbook running Tiger. I want to upgrade so I can enjoy the fine assortment of Telltale products, but I have a few quick questions.

1)Can I use the $30 upgrade DVD on the Mac website to go from 10.4 to 10.6?

2)Will I retain my programs?

    Looks like it can be done. But a word of caution: As the article indicates, going straight from Tiger to Snow Leopard isn't Apple's intention for the $30 disc. So to a certain extent, you would be upgrading at your own risk.

    That said, I have no reason to believe the upgrade shouldn't work for you. I'm a "back up and clean install" girl myself, but my one experience with the upgrade path (Jaguar -> Tiger) went pretty smoothly, and for most people it works out quite well. So long as your MacBook has a Core 2 Duo processor and discrete (i.e. not integrated) graphics as well, you should be good to go game-wise.

    That's the best motivation for upgrading an operating system that I've ever seen. :)
