I just found out that Emetics are things that make you vomit! Coincidence?
No, Telltale chose the name for that specific reason, and the reason most people wouldn't know what it meant.

    It's not too hard to figure out if you know word roots, and it is made pretty clear in the game:
    Hugh Bliss: Ladies and gentlemen, for my first trick, I give you... the Rainbow Wheel of Death! Also know as Emetics: The Ride!
    Sam: Ugh... I'm gonna throw up...
    Hugh Bliss: Exactly!

    Also, diuretics are drugs that make you urinate, which is why Max is talking about starting the cult of Diuretics at the end of the game.
