there's already a thread, but this game deserves another :P

This might seem really stupid to some, but I absolutely hated this game based solely upon the demo. The character is petulant, whiny, and a defeatist. I really don't want to listen to him whine about how horrible he is for any longer than I have to, which is now over since I hit the dead end of the demo after about twelve minutes of playing (ten or so more exhausting other dialog trees). Further, I really didn't like the interface because it just didn't jive well for me. Clicking on a hot spot and dragging the mouse to select what I want to do seemed really dodgy. Also, I really didn't like the inventory management or that I couldn't get descriptions of anything but the hot spot items.

The voice acting was nothing to write home about, but I didn't mind King's Quest 5's voices so why bother to complain about that? Particularly since the only really grating one is the main character and it isn't the actor's fault.

The art was generally pretty good and the setting/plot seemed like it could be fun. I would've forgiven the small issues I had with the interface if it weren't for the horrible main character. He's really got no reason to hate his family apart from just not liking Ben's occasional abuse, which I assumed came from how terrible a person Sadwick is.

He's openly verbally abusive to his grandfather and even neglects his pet. He refuses to do chores to help his older brother who seems to take all of the family responsibilities outside of cooking onto himself. He can't do anything right and will give up at the first sign of trouble.

I get that he's supposed to be 12 years old, though at first I assumed he was just an adopted gnome, but only the most insufferable act like this guy. He's got a roof over his head, family members that provide for him, and a travels frequently.

Tl;dr- I didn't like the game, mostly due to the writing/characterization of the main character Sadwick. But thanks for posting the link to a free demo, it was worth trying out.
